Skoda has finally revealed what its new Rapid is going to look like and it turns out that the hatchback has been given a dramatic new look.

The car was shown off to the world’s motoring press at the Frankfurt Motoring Show and the firm also took the opportunity to reveal what the revamped Skoda Yeti will look like.

The move to unveil two new vehicles underlines the carmaker’s commitment to unveil at least eight new models this year.

And with the new Skoda Rapid they have a vehicle that should make its competitors in the fiercely competitive compact hatchback market take note. There’s a lot riding on the new vehicle which is Skoda’s first foray into the sector.

For the Skoda Rapid Spaceback, the firm says it has applied fresh thinking what it considers to be a very staid and safe sector of the car market.

Not only has Skoda introduced some strong design lines for its Skoda Rapid Spaceback, but there’s also a huge range of options to personalise the car including the chance to have a panoramic glass roof and extended tailgate glazing.

The interior for the Skoda Rapid Spaceback will set new standards in comfort with lots of space for passengers and a big 415 litre boot which, when the rear seats are dropped-down, will extend to 1,380 litres.

The Skoda Rapid has won an army of admirers thanks to some very clever design ideas and these are continued in the new Skoda Rapid Spaceback which include a dual level boot floor and an ice scraper inside the fuel lid along with a range of cupholders inside the vehicle itself.

Skoda Yeti lovers will be pleased to hear that the facelifted vehicle will now be available in two versions – the Yeti and the Yeti Outdoor.

Basically, Skoda has responded to research about who buys the Skoda Yeti and those who live in the city will prefer the new Skoda Yeti itself while those who want more from their vehicle i.e. more off-road capability, will be pointed towards the Skoda Yeti Outdoor.

Both the Skoda Rapid Spaceback and the Skoda Yeti will help the carmaker reach its ambitious sales target of selling at least 1.5 million cars annually by 2018.

Skoda really has ambitions to be a global force in car-making and is pushing hard into new sales markets which include China and the new vehicles will help them achieve that aim.
