The new Mercedes GLE is available to order now and will begin appearing on our roads from next spring.
There’s a lot to like about the GLE and for the first time the model features a seven-seat configuration along with the firm’s latest multimedia system.
There are two 12.3 inch display screens available, lots of equipment and it offers excellent handling as well.
The interior is plush and comfortable and comes complete with Nappa leather and lots of connectivity.
Mercedes GLE will have two engines from launch
The new Mercedes GLE will have two engines from launch with the smallest being a four-cylinder 2.0 litre diesel unit producing 245 HP and torque of 500 Nm.
The engine will propel the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in just over seven seconds and onto a 140 mph top speed. Economy is 46 mpg with emissions of 162g/km.
The GLE 450 4Matic has a six cylinder 3.0 litre petrol engine under the bonnet, which produces 367 HP and torque of 500 Nm. There’s also a 48 V onboard network that adds 22 HP to the overall output of the car.
The sprint time for the GLE 450 is 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. Economy is 34 mpg with emissions of 191g/km.
Equipment for the new Mercedes GLE
The equipment for the new Mercedes GLE includes the firm’s MBUX multimedia offering with its ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice activation, illuminated running boards and grab handles as well as privacy glass.
The model features 20-inch AMG twin spoke alloy wheels and a parking package featuring active parking assist, traffic sign assist and two-zone climate control.
Options include a premium package with adaptive high beam assist, wireless charging and the parking package features a 360° camera.
A more expensive option is to add a surround sound system, a fragrance and filtering air system, keyless-go and hands-free access. There’s also a panoramic glass sunroof.

There’s also an off-roading package offering extra off-roading driving modes and speed regulation when travelling downhill.
The off-roading package also delivers underbody protection and reinforced underfloor panelling that stretches the full length of the GLE.
Prices start at £54,800 for the Mercedes GLE 300 d 4Matic and rise to £61,000 for the 450 4Matic.
