New Mercedes GLA is packed with innovations

This is the new contract hire Mercedes GLA which has a new rear and front design, a longer list of standard equipment and various other innovations.

The carmaker says that the refresh enhances the SUV’s character and there’s a modern light signature with the front headlights and the rear LED lights.

Drivers also have a wider choice of paint schemes and new wheel designs.

The basic model features 17-inch alloy gloss black wheels and there’s the option of 18- to 20-inch alloys available too.

Mercedes GLA car lease range

The latest Mercedes GLA car lease range also features electrified 2.0-litre petrol engines with the mild-hybrids mating the four-cylinder units with either a 7- or an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox as standard.

The hybrids also have a 48-volt power supply to boost the starter-generator.

Along with helping the car start and offering a power boost when needed, the system will switch off the engine off and coast on battery power alone to boost fuel consumption.

The new model features power outputs from 163 PS and torque of 300Nm with emissions of 204g/km. The battery-powered range for this large SUV is up to 43 miles.

Mercedes is also offering its stylish GLA with a 2.0-litre diesel engine with a range of outputs and emissions.

Updated GLA lease model

The updated GLA lease model also has a significantly improved interior with a free-standing double screen. That includes a 7-inch screen and a 10.25-inch display that is fitted as standard for the instrument cluster and the multimedia offering.

Drivers also have the option of adding two more 10.25-inch widescreen displays for ‘Mercedes me’ app for a high-tech interior.

The steering wheel is upholstered in leather and there’s an alternative non-leather creation for those that want it.

The seats have also been improved and are now more comfortable with new material for the upholstery.

Improved list of standard equipment

The improved list of standard equipment includes a new USB package, a backup camera and high beam assist. Other models add a mirror package and/or a parking package.

Mercedes says it is offering these packages in response to customer behaviour.

The model also features various online services and there’s an intelligent voice assistant to help.

Safety features include an improved driving assistance package with lane keep assist utilising the active steering control system.

The parking package will support longitudinal parking and there’s a camera-assisted parking as well as trailer manoeuvring assist for the first time.
