View dealThe Volkswagen ID.7 is Volkswagen's large electric family car, sold as a five-seat saloon or a five-seat estate. It sits at the top of Volkswagen's electric range, above the smaller ID models, and is aimed at people who cover serious mileage and want space rather than height.
Every ID.7 is fully electric, automatic, and rear- or all-wheel drive, with an 82-91 kWh battery, 282-335 bhp and a WLTP range of up to 434 miles on the best version. At 4.96 m long, it's a genuinely big car with a boot of 532-605 litres depending on version.
The choice is straightforward: saloon or estate, one electric powertrain in rear- or all-wheel drive, and three trims - Match Pro Plus, Match Pro S Plus and GTX Plus.

The ID.7 is Volkswagen's electric answer to the traditional big executive saloon and estate: long, quiet and built around distance driving rather than sporting thrills. It carries five people and holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
Reviewers consistently praise the refinement, the ride quality on British roads and the amount of room in the back, and most rate it as the most convincing of Volkswagen's electric cars so far. The common criticism is that almost everything is controlled through the touchscreen, and that the driving experience is comfortable rather than sporty.
Practical details matter more here than lap times. The boot runs from 532 litres in the saloon to 605 litres in the estate, servicing is every 24 months, and the car comes with a 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty plus an 8-year / 100,000-mile battery warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity.
Two shapes, same 4.96 m length. The saloon is the sleeker of the pair with a 532-litre boot; the estate trades a little of that shape for a taller, squarer load area and 605 litres behind the rear seats.
The ID.7 Saloon is the lower, sleeker body at 1.54 m tall, with a 532-litre boot rising to 1,948 litres with the rear seats folded. It's the one to pick if looks and motorway manners matter more than load height.
The ID.7 Estate adds a longer roofline and a 605-litre boot, again 1,948 litres folded, with the same 2.97 m wheelbase. Same length, same width, 1.55 m tall: you gain usable shape, not footprint.
Because the ID.7 is generously equipped before you add anything, and a lease keeps you in a current car with a full manufacturer warranty behind it. Every version gets matrix LED headlights, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera and three-zone climate control.
Driver assistance is thorough across the range: adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, self-steering parking and front and rear parking sensors. Heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, massaging front seats, a powered tailgate, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a heat pump are standard too.
Towing capacity runs from 1,000 kg up to 1,800 kg braked depending on version, with 750 kg unbraked. If charging is new to you, our electric car guide covers the basics before you order.
There's one powertrain here, in different states of tune. Every ID.7 is battery electric and automatic, so the real decision is battery size and whether you want rear- or all-wheel drive.
An 82-91 kWh battery gives 282-335 bhp, 545 Nm, and a WLTP range of 360-434 miles, with 0-62 mph in 5.4-6.7 seconds. There's no petrol back-up, so you'll need charging: 10-80% takes 28 minutes at 200 kW on the best version, or a full charge in 8 hours at 11 kW at home. Efficiency is quoted at 3.7-4.5 miles/kWh.
| Electric | |

| Boot | 532–605 litres |
| Power | 282–335 bhp |
| Seats | 5 |
| Battery | 82–91 kWh |

Three trims, and they differ less than the names suggest: the equipment list is already long on the entry car, so the real jump comes with GTX Plus.
Starting at 282 bhp with rear-wheel drive, this trim runs 19-inch "Hudson" alloys and cloth upholstery, with voice activation for navigation and phone, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start with safelock, a hands-free tailgate, automatic parking assist, a rear-view camera and DAB radio. A retractable towbar and adaptive suspension are available as options.
The Match Pro Plus is currently available from £525.71 a month.
This one is about presentation rather than added equipment: it keeps the 282 bhp rear-wheel-drive setup, the 19-inch "Hudson" alloys and cloth upholstery, with the same retractable towbar and adaptive suspension options. Worth checking the individual deal to see exactly how it's specified.
The Match Pro S Plus is currently available from £339.71 a month. Against the Match Pro Plus, that is currently £186.00/mo cheaper. Best value
The GTX Plus is the all-wheel-drive version, starting at 335 bhp, on 20-inch "Skagen" alloys with adaptive suspension as standard. It adds ventilated massage seats for the front and heated rear seats, with adaptive suspension as standard; a retractable towbar is an option here.
The GTX Plus is currently available from £331.24 a month. Against the Match Pro S Plus, that is currently £8.47/mo cheaper. Best value
Option packs sit on top of a trim rather than replacing one. The Int+ Pack brings ventilated massage seats for the front and 30-colour interior ambient lighting; the Ext+ Pan Pack covers IQ.Drive and the exterior package plus with an electronic darkening panoramic sunroof, area view with rear view camera, memory for park assist and the ambient lighting; the Int+Ext+ Pan Pack combines the two. Availability varies by deal, so check the version you're looking at.
