Vauxhall Astra Lease Deals

The Vauxhall Astra is a five-seat family hatchback or estate, offered with petrol, plug-in hybrid or electric power and three trim levels. This page explains which body, powertrain and trim suits which kind of driver before you pick a deal.

The Vauxhall Astra is Vauxhall's five-seat family car, sold as a hatchback or an estate, and it is the model the brand sits above the smaller Corsa and alongside its crossovers. It's about 4.37 m long in hatchback form, so it fits a normal driveway and a multi-storey without fuss.

It suits drivers who want a conventional family car rather than an SUV: parents doing school runs and motorway trips, company car drivers chasing lower tax, and anyone who'd rather sit low than high. Reviewers consistently describe it as handsome outside, sensible and slightly sombre inside, and composed rather than exciting to drive.

The choice is straightforward. Two bodies (hatchback or estate), three powertrains (petrol, plug-in hybrid or electric) and three trims - Griffin, GS and Ultimate.

About the Vauxhall Astra

The current car is the eighth-generation Astra, on sale in this form since 2026. A small number of previous-shape cars may still be around while stocks last, so check the version on any individual deal.

The Astra name has been a fixture of British roads for decades, and this generation shifted it upmarket with sharper styling. Road testers tend to praise the firm but well-controlled ride and the supportive front seats; the usual criticisms are a dark cabin and steering that doesn't reward enthusiastic driving.

Practically, it seats five, carries between 352 and 597 litres of luggage depending on the version you pick, and comes with a three-year or 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty.

Astra body styles

Two shapes, same car underneath. The hatchback is the compact one at about 4.37 m long; the estate stretches the back end for a much bigger boot and a slightly longer wheelbase. Both seat five and use the same powertrains and trims.

Hatchback

The Astra hatchback is 4.37 m long with a 2.68 m wheelbase and a boot of 352 to 422 litres with the rear seats up, rising to as much as 1,339 litres folded. The easiest version to park.

Estate

The Astra estate is 4.64 m long and carries 516 to 597 litres behind the rear seats, or up to 1,634 litres folded. You give up a little manoeuvrability; dog owners and cyclists will think that a fair trade.

Why lease a Vauxhall Astra?

Because the standard kit list is unusually complete for a family car, which matters more on a lease than a long options list you'd pay for monthly. Every Astra, in every trim, gets adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, built-in navigation, climate control and LED headlights.

Safety and assistance are standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, automatic high beam and front and rear parking sensors. Towing capacity runs up to 1,400 kg braked on the strongest versions, and every car carries a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel.

Servicing is every 12 months or between 8,000 and 20,000 miles depending on the version - worth knowing before you set your annual mileage. Our guide to choosing your car covers how to match mileage and term to how you actually drive.

Which Astra powertrain is right for me?

Three choices: petrol if you don't want to plug in, plug-in hybrid if you can charge at home but still do long trips, electric if most of your driving is predictable and you have somewhere to charge.

Petrol

A 1.2-litre turbo with 128 to 143 bhp, front-wheel drive, and a choice of manual or automatic. WLTP economy is quoted between 46.3 and 58.9 mpg depending on version. It's the simplest option, and on the same version the automatic is often the cheaper monthly rental of the two.

Plug-in hybrid

A 1.6-litre turbo petrol with a 17.2 kWh battery, 192 bhp in total and an automatic gearbox. It accelerates from 0-62 mph in 7.6 seconds, and it charges at up to 7 kW - around 2.9 hours from 20-80% at 7.4 kW on the best version. It works best with a home charger.

Electric

A 55.4 kWh battery, 154 bhp, automatic, front-wheel drive, with a WLTP range of up to 281 miles. Rapid charging peaks at 100 kW, giving 20-80% in 32 minutes on the best version. Company car drivers and home chargers will find it the easiest case to make.

Which Astra trim should I choose?

Griffin already covers the essentials, GS is the sharper-looking one with more cabin tech, and Ultimate is the comfort-and-assistance flagship. All three share the same standard safety kit.

Griffin

The entry trim brings 17-inch "Kadet" alloys with locking wheel bolts, cloth upholstery, satellite navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a heated steering wheel, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming mirror. A fixed towbar is available as an option.

The Griffin is currently available from £334.82 a month.

GS

GS swaps in 18-inch black "Pentagon" alloys and adds a 180-degree rear-view camera, customisable ambient lighting in eight colours, the Pure Panel Pro display, dual-zone climate control, front sports seats and power-folding mirrors.

The GS is currently available from £377.70 a month. Against the Griffin, that is currently £42.88/mo more expensive.

Ultimate

On petrol versions Ultimate is the step up from Griffin, with 18-inch diamond-cut "Pentagon" alloys, a 180-degree rear-view camera, wireless phone charging and a powered tailgate. It also adds a head-up display, massaging front seats, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, active lane-change assist and roof rails, with an opening panoramic roof available as an option.

The Ultimate is currently available from £382.12 a month. Against the Griffin, that is currently £47.29/mo more expensive.

Similar cars to consider

If you're weighing the Astra against the rest of the class, the Volkswagen Golf, the CUPRA Leon and the Peugeot 308 all cover similar ground, while the BYD Dolphin is a smaller electric-only alternative. More options sit on our Vauxhall leasing page.

Vauxhall Astra FAQs

Yes, with one caveat. It seats five, every version has autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and parking sensors front and rear, and the ride is firm but well controlled. Reviewers do note that rear legroom is tighter than in some rivals, so sit in the back before you commit.

It will drive without being plugged in, but you'll lose most of the point. The 17.2 kWh battery charges at up to 7 kW, taking around 2.9 hours from 20-80% at 7.4 kW on the best version. If you can't charge at home or at work, the petrol Astra makes more sense.

It depends on body and powertrain. The hatchback holds 352 to 422 litres with the seats up and up to 1,339 litres folded; the estate holds 516 to 597 litres, or up to 1,634 litres folded. Plug-in hybrid versions sit at the smaller end because of the battery.

Yes, up to 1,400 kg braked on the strongest versions, with 600 to 680 kg unbraked. The exact limit varies by body and powertrain, so tell us what you plan to tow and we'll check the figure for the specific version before you order. A fixed towbar is a factory option on all three trims.

Three years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, plus a six-year anti-corrosion guarantee and a one-year paintwork guarantee. Electric and plug-in hybrid versions also get an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity - comfortably longer than a typical lease term.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time, and it moves. The entry Griffin trim is currently from £334.82 a month. The live Astra deals below this page show today's figures across bodies, powertrains and trims.

On most versions at the moment, yes - the Electric is often the cheaper monthly rental on a like-for-like trim. A rental reflects the gap between the car's cost and its forecast value at the end of the term, plus interest, so a version that holds value better can cost less per month despite a higher list price. That can change whenever pricing is refreshed. Our electric car guide covers charging and running costs.

Specifications from Vauxhall's UK data; equipment, boot space, towing limits and availability vary by body, powertrain and trim, so check the individual deal before ordering.
