View dealThe SEAT Leon Estate is the long-tailed version of SEAT's family car: five seats, five doors, 4.64 m long, and a boot of 470 to 620 litres with the rear seats up depending which version you pick. It's the sensible shape in the Leon family, without looking it.
It suits people who want family-car running costs and a proper load bay rather than a crossover: dog owners, cyclists, parents with a pushchair and a weekly shop, and drivers who tow, since the best version is rated to pull 1,700 kg braked.
The choice here is simpler than it looks. One body style, two powertrains - a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with 114 to 148 bhp, or a 201 bhp plug-in hybrid automatic - and a short run of trims whose equipment varies by version.

The current Leon Estate is the fourth-generation Leon in estate form, on sale in this shape since 2020. It's a five-seat family estate measuring 4.64 m long, 1.80 m wide and around 1.45 m tall, with a 2.69 m wheelbase.
Reviewers consistently praise the space - 620 litres in the boot on petrol versions - along with light steering, a 10.8 m turning circle that makes town driving easy, and a cabin that looks sharper than most family cars at the price. The common criticism is the touch-sensitive climate controls, which are fiddlier than physical switches.
Every version carries a 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty, a 12-year anti-corrosion guarantee and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
The Estate gives you a much bigger boot for very little else. It's 4.64 m long against the Leon Hatchback's 4.37 m, but the same 1.80 m width and near-identical height, and both seat five.
The gap that matters is load space: 270 to 380 litres in the hatchback against 470 to 620 litres here. The Estate matches the hatchback's towing capability, up to 1,700 kg braked on its strongest version and 1,300 kg at the other end of the range.
If you're still weighing up shapes, the full SEAT Leon range covers both. Our guide to choosing your car is worth a read if boot space is the deciding factor.
Because the standard specification is genuinely complete, so you're less likely to need options you'll pay for over the whole contract. Every Leon Estate gets keyless entry and start, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, DAB digital radio and voice control.
Safety and assistance kit is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and an electric parking brake. Euro NCAP scored the car 88% for adult occupant protection and 86% for child occupant protection.
Roof rails are fitted to every version, which helps if bikes or a roof box are part of the plan. Five colours are offered across the range: Desire red, Fiord blue, Glacial white, Graphene grey and Midnight black.
Two choices: a 1.5-litre petrol, or a plug-in hybrid that needs charging to make sense.
The 1.5-litre turbo petrol produces 114 to 148 bhp with manual or automatic gearboxes, front-wheel drive, and WLTP economy of 47.9 to 54.3 mpg. It also keeps the full 620-litre boot. Pick this if you can't charge at home or your mileage is mostly longer runs.
The plug-in hybrid pairs the 1.5-litre turbo with a 25.8 kWh battery (20.0 kWh usable) for 201 bhp, an automatic gearbox and 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds. It charges 0-100% in 2.5 hours at 11 kW on the best version, and takes 470 litres of luggage. Best for drivers who can plug in regularly.

Trim availability on the Estate moves around, so the honest answer is to choose on the equipment listed against the individual version rather than the badge on the bootlid.
What's reassuring is how much is fixed. Keyless entry and start, the digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front and rear parking sensors, roof rails, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers are on every version, whichever trim you land on.
So the difference between trims tends to be wheels, trim finishes and comfort kit rather than the safety and technology that matters most. Insurance groups run from 14 to 21 on the petrol and 24 to 25 on the plug-in hybrid, which is worth checking before you order.
Which trims are actually available at any moment depends on what funders and SEAT are supplying, and it changes. The deals below are the live list for the Estate, and our team can check a specific trim for you if you can't see it.
If you're shortlisting, the CUPRA Leon is the performance-focused relative, while the Peugeot 308, Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra all cover similar family ground. More from the brand sits on our SEAT leasing page.
