Leasing a Porsche 911
Engines and performance for the Porsche 911
The Porsche 911 is undoubtedly a motoring icon and the latest version has the firm's 3.0 litre twin-turbocharged flat-six petrol engine to deliver the thrills – and its famous soundtrack. The engine produces 450 HP to help it sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds - or 3.4 seconds if you opt for Sport Chrono Package. That's an impressive sports car performance time and it will go on to a top speed of 190 mph. The 911 is currently only available with an eight-speed double-clutch automatic gearbox though it delivers smooth progress through the gears. The transmission is particularly impressive when driving around town with no jolting when dealing with low speeds.
Equipment and handling
The Porsche 911 is excellent to drive and impressive when cornering - and when driven in a straight line the engine delivers exceptional acceleration. There's a lot to recommend the 911 for everyday use; it's a comfortable car to drive around town and it's also a relaxed cruiser on long motorway journeys. Porsche has fitted lots of safety kit as standard, plus autonomous driving aids to help on those long journeys. Other standard equipment includes a rear view camera which helps when parking, though the all-round views from the driving seat are very good. The interior has a very simple and minimalist design but it's a comfortable and well-designed space to spend time. It has to be said that the design is functional for everyday use – not something its sports car rivals can claim with their more exotic interior designs. There's a satnav system as standard and the infotainment screens control most of the car's functions with just a few physical buttons for the driver to use. The leather seats are very comfortable and there's an option to have a full leather cabin. The Porsche 911 also has a choice of interior colour options to deliver a really unique and impressive sports car. Essentially, the latest model is the eighth reincarnation of an excellent sports car and for those who are wanting thrills and practicality, then there's very little competition with the Porsche 911 meeting just about every driver's needs.
