View dealThe Mercedes-Benz EQE Saloon is the electric executive four-door in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. It's aimed squarely at high-mileage drivers and company car users who want quiet, long-distance comfort.
Five seats, four doors, a 430-litre boot and a length of about 4.95 m put it in classic executive saloon territory. Every version is electric and automatic, with rear-wheel drive on most and all-wheel drive on the fastest.
The choice here is simple: one body style, one electric powertrain family spanning 315 to 617 bhp, and four trims - Sport Edition, AMG Line Edition, AMG Line Night Edition and the performance AMG Night Edition.

The current EQE Saloon, on sale in this form since 2023, is Mercedes-Benz's electric answer to the traditional executive saloon: aerodynamic, heavily teched-up and tuned for calm rather than sharpness.
Reviewers consistently praise its refinement - very little wind and road noise at motorway speed - and the sheer distance it can cover, with WLTP range reaching up to 428 miles on the most efficient version. The 430-litre boot and the slim saloon boot opening draw the most criticism; road testers also note that rear headroom is tighter than the car's near-five-metre length suggests.
Behind that sits a 3-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty, a separate battery warranty of 10 years or 155,000 miles guaranteeing 70% of capacity, and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating with 95% for adult occupant protection.
The Saloon is the lower, sleeker choice; the EQE SUV is the practical one. Both carry five people, but the SUV holds 520 litres with the seats up and 1,675 litres folded, against the Saloon's 430 litres behind a conventional boot lid.
The SUV is taller at 1.67-1.71 m versus roughly 1.50 m, shorter overall at 4.86-4.88 m, and tows up to 1,800 kg braked where the Saloon manages up to 1,700 kg. The Saloon, being lower and lighter at 2,415-2,540 kg, is the more aerodynamic long-distance cruiser. You can see both together on the full EQE range page.
Because the standard specification is unusually complete for an executive car, and because leasing keeps you inside the manufacturer warranty and away from the used-value question on a premium EV - a real consideration in this part of the market.
Every EQE Saloon, whichever trim, gets a powered tailgate, built-in navigation, wireless phone charging, a heat pump for cold-weather efficiency, self-steering parking, a rear-view camera with front and rear sensors, adaptive suspension, climate control, privacy glass, ambient lighting, a wi-fi hotspot and DAB radio.
Servicing falls every 12 months or 15,500 miles, and the spare is a tyre repair kit rather than a wheel. Worth knowing before you order: insurance sits in group 50, so get a quote early.
There's one answer here: the EQE Saloon is electric only, so the real decision is how much power you want and whether you can charge conveniently.
A 91-96 kWh battery drives either the rear wheels or all four, with 315-617 bhp and an automatic gearbox. WLTP range runs up to 428 miles, rapid charging takes 32 minutes from 0-100% at 170 kW on the best version, and a 22 kW supply does the same in 4.8 hours. It needs charging - there's no engine. Our electric car guide covers the basics if this is your first EV.
| Electric | |
|---|---|
| Boot | 430 litres |
| Power | 315–617 bhp |
| Seats | 5 |
| Battery | 91–96 kWh |
| 0–62 mph | 3.5–6.1 s |
| Braked towing | 750–1700 kg |
| Electric range (WLTP) | 277–428 miles |
Four trims, and the jump from one to the next is mostly about lighting, comfort kit and driver assistance rather than the drivetrain.
The entry point, with 315 bhp and rear-wheel drive. It runs 20-inch Multi Spoke alloy wheels, artificial leather upholstery, static LED headlights with high beam assist, wireless smartphone integration, heated front seats and a digital instrument cluster.
Same 315 bhp rear-drive setup, with genuine leather upholstery, front sports seats and smaller 19-inch AMG 5 Twin Spoke alloys - which, as road testers point out, tend to ride better than bigger rims. Air suspension is available as a factory option.
This is where the assistance kit arrives: adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and autonomous emergency braking, alongside digital HD LED headlights with projection and adaptive high beam plus. You also get an opening panoramic roof, heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, electric driver's seat with memory. Ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and air suspension are options.
Then there's the performance version. The AMG Night Edition puts out 617 bhp through all-wheel drive on 21-inch AMG Multi Spoke alloys, with air suspension and four-wheel steering as standard, plus a head-up display, 360-degree camera, massaging and ventilated front seats, adaptive ambient lighting in 64 colours, augmented navigation and active lane-change assist.
