Land Rover Range Rover Sport in a nutshell

ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE RANGE ROVER SPORT

Unusually for modern carmakers, the Range Rover Sport car leasing line-up includes diesel engine choices. The power outputs range from 246 bhp for the D250, 345 bhp for the D350.

Drivers also have the choice of petrol engines with the P360 delivering 355 bhp, and the P400 producing 395 bhp - both are mild hybrids, and the best performing unit is the twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine from BMW producing 523 bhp. It will sprint from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds. The hybrids utilise an electric motor producing 105kW with a 70-mile electric driving range. Range Rover says there will be an all-electric version available in 2024 with the promise of a battery range of 460 miles.

The fuel economy for what is a large SUV ranges from 38mpg for the base D300 diesel version with emissions of 196g/km. The P400 returns 30mpg with emissions of 214g/km.

However, there is an impressive plug-in hybrid amongst the contract hire Range Rover Sport line up with the P400e offering performance and fuel economy of 341mpg and emissions of just 18g/km to make this a sound choice for those looking at leasing a luxurious SUV. The battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in less than an hour and with a home wall box, recharging takes around five hours.

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING

The Range Rover Sport is not only stylish and luxurious, but it also still offers the best on- and off-road performance in its segment. The latest version retains all wheel drive and the distinctive silhouette and it’s just under five metres in length.

The interior has also been revamped with a focused cockpit design and lots of equipment. The latest model has a smaller steering wheel, and the driver sits 20 mm lower, but the handling and comfort levels are excellent. A curved 13.1-inch infotainment display dominates the centre console and there’s a 13.7-inch instrument binnacle that is easy to use.

There’s more space for those sitting in the rear seats and the boot is 55 litres larger than the previous model at 835 litres. There’s no seven-seat option and no long wheelbase version available either.

As should be expected, the Sport is packed with equipment including 21-inch alloy wheels, a fixed panoramic sunroof, a Meridian sound system and a 3D surround camera system to help protect the occupants.

Land Rover has also added perforated Windsor leather seats with the driver and front passenger having 20-way heated electric memory seats, while those sitting in the rear get heated seats with a reclining function. The model also comes with adaptive cruise control, power folding mirrors and two-zone climate control.

The high comfort levels come from the adaptive dynamics which is part of the air suspension and the impressive ‘Terrain 2’ setup that delivers the modes for setting the dampers and handling when taken off-road.

The contract hire Sport SE comes with more equipment, while the Dynamic offering delivers more exterior styling. The range-topper is the excellent Autobiography with a black contrast roof, digital LED headlights and the sliding panoramic roof. There’s also a head-up display and 22-inch alloy wheels. The top model also offers all-wheel steering and there’s an electronic active differential that comes with torque vectoring.

Essentially, the Range Rover Sport car leasing line-up offers much improved on-road handling and abilities but retains the excellent off-roading skills and if you have been waiting to lease the latest version, you will get to enjoy a car that is the best it can possibly be.
