View dealThe Fiat 500 Hatchback is a small, three-door, four-seat city car that sells on style as much as sense. It's the smallest car Fiat offers in the UK, and the one that gives the brand its face.
You choose between two very different characters: a 1-litre, 64 bhp petrol with a manual gearbox, or an electric version with up to 186 miles of WLTP range and an automatic. Three trims - Icon, Torino and La Prima - sit on top of that.
If most of your driving is urban, short and repetitive, this car makes a lot of sense. If you regularly carry four adults or spend your week on the motorway, be honest with yourself early.

The current 500 Hatchback is the third-generation car, on sale in this form since 2026, with four seats, a 185-litre boot and a three-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty.
Reviewers are consistent about it: the design is the draw, the town manners are excellent and the cabin feels a step above what small cars used to offer. A 9.7-metre turning circle and a body just 3.63 m long do a lot of the work in tight streets.
The criticisms are just as consistent. Road testers note that the rear seats are tight for adults, that the boot suits a shop rather than a holiday, and that rivals offer more space and, on the electric versions, more range for similar money.
The Hatchback is the fixed-roof, three-door 500. The 500 Convertible is the same car with a folding fabric roof: two doors, the same four seats and the same 185-litre boot with the rear seats up.
Both are 3.63 m long and 1.53 m tall, so nothing is lost in footprint. The Hatchback is the lighter of the two, at 1,064-1,365 kg against 1,084-1,405 kg, and it folds its rear seats to 440-550 litres, and the Convertible manages the same figures.
In short: the roof is the decision. Everything else across the 500 range is near enough identical.
Leasing suits a car like this because you're paying for use, not ownership, on a small car you'll likely change again in three or four years. The 500's standard kit is also strong enough that the entry trim doesn't feel like a penalty box.
Every version gets keyless entry and start, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and an electric parking brake.
Safety and driver assistance are standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition and rear parking sensors. Servicing falls every 12 months or 9,000 miles, and the car carries a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel - worth knowing before you order.
Two choices: a petrol manual, or an electric automatic. Your charging situation and your weekly mileage settle it.
A 1-litre engine with 64 bhp and 92 Nm, driving the front wheels through a six-speed manual. It returns 53.3 mpg on the WLTP cycle with CO2 of 119-121 g/km, and takes 16.2 seconds to 62 mph, so it's a town car first. Insurance group 5.
Battery sizes run from 24.0 to 42.0 kWh, with 94-116 bhp and WLTP range of up to 186 miles on the best version. It's automatic, front-wheel drive, and needs charging: on the best version, 0-80% in 35 minutes at 85 kW, or 0-100% in 2.5 hours at 11 kW at home. If you can plug in overnight, it's the easier car to live with. Our electric car guide covers the basics.

Three trims: Icon, Torino and La Prima, and the jump in equipment comes at the top.
The entry trim, and a complete car. It brings 16-inch Burnished alloy wheels, LED headlights, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eco-leather steering wheel, rear parking sensors and cloth upholstery.
Torino is about looks rather than extra equipment: it's a distinct edition of the 500 with the same 16-inch Burnished alloys and cloth trim as Icon underneath.
If you like the way it's presented, it's the one to have. Availability of any particular version comes and goes, so ask our team if you can't see it on the deals below.
The fully-specified 500. It adds 17-inch Diamond-cut alloys, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with built-in navigation, heated front seats, a JBL premium audio system with six speakers and leather upholstery.
It also brings adaptive cruise control, a fixed panoramic glass roof, wireless phone charging, a rear-view camera, front parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beam, privacy glass, power-folding mirrors and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
If the 500's size and character suit you but you want a different flavour, the hotter Abarth 500 takes the same shape somewhere louder, while the Kia Picanto covers similar ground with more doors and a longer warranty. More Fiat lease deals are worth a look too.
