Abarth 500 Lease Deals

The Abarth 500 is Abarth's electric hot hatch, sold as a three-door hatchback or a fabric-roofed convertible with a 42.2 kWh battery and 153 bhp. This page explains the two body styles, the single electric powertrain and the choice between the 500 entry model and Turismo.

The Abarth 500 is a small electric hot hatch: 153 bhp through the front wheels, 3.67 m long, four seats and a 185-litre boot. It's a car people choose for how it looks and drives, not for how much it holds.

It sits at the sharp end of a very short line-up, as the sporting take on Fiat's electric city car, with stiffer suspension, weightier steering and a body kit to match. Reviewers consistently describe it as playful and genuinely entertaining on a twisty road, while being honest that the range is short.

The choice is simple. Hatchback or convertible, one electric powertrain, and two trims: the 500 entry model or the Turismo.

About the Abarth 500

The Abarth 500 is a four-seat electric performance version of the 500, on sale in this form since 2023, offered as a hatchback or a convertible and covered by a three-year, 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty.

Abarth has been turning quick versions of Fiat's small cars since the 1950s, and this is the first electric one. Road testers praise the agility - it's short, light for an EV and eager to change direction - and most point out the same two caveats: the rear seats are really for children, and the 185-litre boot is modest, though folding the rear seats frees up 550 litres.

Some testers loved it, more of them switched it off within a few miles.

500 body styles

Two shapes, identical underneath. Both are 3.67 m long with a 185-litre boot and four seats; the hatchback has three doors, the convertible has two and a fabric roof that folds back electrically.

Hatchback

The three-door Abarth 500 hatchback is the lighter of the two at 1,410 kg, and the simpler one to live with day to day. A solid roof, a conventional tailgate and the same 9.4 m turning circle.

Convertible

The Abarth 500 convertible swaps the roof panel for folding fabric, gaining open-air appeal and 25 kg of kerb weight at 1,435 kg. Boot volume is unchanged, but the opening is small, so loading takes more thought.

Why lease an Abarth 500?

Because every 500 arrives well equipped and the running costs suit short journeys. Keyless entry and start, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, LED headlights, DAB radio, rain-sensing wipers and an electric parking brake are standard across the range.

Driver assistance is standard too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and traffic sign recognition on every version.

Practicality is what you'd expect of a car this size - 185 litres seats up, 550 litres folded, a 9.4 m turning circle and a tyre repair kit rather than a spare. Servicing is every 12 months or 9,000 miles, and the battery carries its own eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity.

Which 500 powertrain is right for me?

There's only one, and it's electric. Every Abarth 500 uses a 42.2 kWh battery driving the front wheels through an automatic, so the real question is whether the range fits your week.

Electric

153 bhp and 235 Nm, 0-62 mph in 7.0 seconds, and a WLTP range of up to 164 miles depending on version. Rapid charging runs 0-80% in 35 minutes at 85 kW on the best version, and on that version a 0-100% home charge takes 4.3 hours at 11 kW. Ideal if you charge where you park.

Which 500 trim should I choose?

Two trims, and the split is straightforward: the 500 entry model has everything you actually need, while the Turismo adds bigger wheels, Alcantara and the parking and comfort kit.

500 entry model

Rides on 17-inch alloys with cloth upholstery, and comes with LED headlights, the 10.25-inch Uconnect touchscreen with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a JBL hi-fi and a rear-view camera. Deals for this trim come and go, so ask our team what's on the board.

Turismo

Adds 18-inch Diamond Cut alloys, Alcantara upholstery, a premium leather and Alcantara steering wheel, front sports seats, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, 360-degree parking sensors with drone view and rear camera, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beam and an auto-dimming mirror. The Turismo is currently available from £278.99 a month.

Abarth 500 FAQs

Not really, and it isn't meant to be. There are four seats, but at 3.67 m long with a 185-litre boot, the back is best kept for children or short trips. Folding the rear seats gives 550 litres.

Up to 164 miles on the WLTP test, from the 42.2 kWh battery, with the range varying by version between 151 and 164 miles. Efficiency is quoted at 3.3 to 3.6 miles per kWh. Cold weather and motorway speeds will reduce it, as with any EV.

On the best version, 0-80% takes 35 minutes at its fastest charging speed of 85 kW, and a full charge at 11 kW AC takes 4.3 hours. Most home wallboxes are slower than 11 kW, so allow longer overnight - our guide to charging an electric car explains the differences.

Three years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, plus an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity. There's also a three-year paintwork guarantee and an eight-year anti-corrosion guarantee. Servicing falls due every 12 months or 9,000 miles.

It sits in insurance groups 23 to 27 depending on the version, which is higher than a standard small EV but normal for a performance model. Worth getting a quote on the exact version before you order, since insurance is your responsibility on a lease.

That depends entirely on what's available at the time, and it moves as pricing is refreshed. The cheapest trim on paper isn't always the cheapest monthly rental, so check the live Abarth 500 deals below, or ask our team to check both body styles for you.
