Dacia Bigster Lease Deals

The Dacia Bigster is Dacia's largest model: a five-seat family SUV measuring 4.57m long with a boot of 612 to 677 litres depending on version. It comes as a 1.2-litre turbo petrol manual or a self-charging hybrid automatic, in Expression, Journey or Extreme trim.

The Dacia Bigster is the biggest car Dacia makes: a five-seat family SUV, 4.57 metres long, with a boot of 612 to 677 litres depending on the version you choose. It sits above the rest of the Dacia line-up as the brand's family-sized SUV.

It suits people who want space and simplicity rather than badge shine - families, dog owners, caravanners and anyone who'd rather spend their money on the holiday than the car park ornament. Road testers consistently praise the room inside and the honest, rugged feel, and are equally consistent about the hard cabin plastics and a fidgety low-speed ride.

The choice is straightforward: one body style, two powertrains - a 1.2-litre turbo petrol with a manual gearbox, or a self-charging hybrid automatic - and three trims, Expression, Journey and Extreme.

About the Dacia Bigster

The Bigster is Dacia's family SUV flagship, built on the same thinking as the rest of the range: give people the space and kit they actually use, skip the rest. Five seats, five doors, 4.57 metres long, and a 3-year or 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty.

Reviewers repeatedly describe it as a bigger, longer version of Dacia's smaller SUV, and they like it for exactly that reason - generous rear legroom, a square, usable boot of 612 to 677 litres depending on version, and controls you can work without hunting through menus. The criticisms are consistent too: cabin materials feel built to a price, and Euro NCAP awarded it three stars, with 69% for adult occupant protection and 85% for child occupant protection.

Why lease a Dacia Bigster?

Because the standard kit list is unusually complete for a car this size, so you're not forced up the range to get the basics. Every Bigster has a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Driver assistance is standard across the board too: blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition and autonomous emergency braking, alongside LED headlights, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and an electric parking brake.

On practicality, the numbers do the talking. Fold the rear seats and you get 1,977 litres, roof rails are standard, the roof will take 80 kg, and the petrol versions tow up to 1,500 kg braked. The 50-litre tank and 11.0 to 11.1-metre turning circle suit school runs and long motorway hauls alike.

Which Bigster powertrain is right for me?

There are two: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol with a manual gearbox, or a self-charging hybrid with an automatic. Neither needs plugging in. Both are offered with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, so the real question is manual versus automatic, and towing versus economy.

Petrol

A 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo with 128 to 138 bhp, 230 Nm and a six-speed manual, available with front- or all-wheel drive. Official economy is 46.0 to 50.0 mpg, CO2 122 to 137 g/km, and it's the one to pick if you tow: 1,500 kg braked. It gives the biggest boot too, 629 to 677 litres.

Hybrid (self-charging)

The hybrid pairs a petrol engine with a 1.4 kWh battery for 152 to 153 bhp and an automatic gearbox, front- or all-wheel drive. You never plug it in - the car charges the battery itself as you drive. Official economy is 58.0 mpg, CO2 105 to 130 g/km, boot 612 litres, braked towing 1,000 to 1,500 kg.

Which Bigster trim should I choose?

Three trims, and they're a set of choices rather than a simple ladder. Expression covers the essentials, Journey adds the comfort items most people notice day to day, and Extreme is the one with the sunroof.

Expression

Expression rides on 17-inch Tergan diamond-cut alloys with cloth upholstery, and brings a synthetic leather steering wheel, multi-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, a digital instrument cluster and power-folding door mirrors, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Expression is currently available from £318.54 a month.

Journey

Journey swaps to 19-inch Rasan diamond-cut black alloys and adds the things you use on a cold Tuesday: heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, a powered tailgate and a 10-inch digital driver display, along with privacy glass and automatic high beam. The opening panoramic roof is available as an option. The Journey is currently available from £334.67 a month. Against the Expression, that is currently £16.13/mo more expensive.

Extreme

Extreme takes Journey's kit and adds the opening panoramic sunroof as standard, on 18-inch Tagasan diamond-cut black alloys - a smaller wheel than Journey's, which testers reckon does the ride no harm at all. The Extreme is currently available from £336.17 a month. Against the Journey, that is currently £1.50/mo more expensive.

Dacia Bigster FAQs

Yes, for families of up to five. It has five seats, five doors and a boot of 612 to 677 litres depending on version, and reviewers single out its rear legroom. Euro NCAP gave it three stars overall, with 85% for child occupant protection.

No. It's a self-charging hybrid, so the 1.4 kWh battery is topped up by the engine and by braking. You fill it with petrol as normal. Official economy is 58.0 mpg with CO2 from 105 g/km, and the gearbox is automatic.

Between 612 and 677 litres with the rear seats up, depending on the version: the hybrid gives 612 litres, the petrol 629 to 677. Fold the rear seats and every Bigster offers 1,977 litres. A tyre repair kit is supplied rather than a spare wheel.

It tows up to 1,500 kg braked, but only on the right version. The petrol manages the full 1,500 kg; the hybrid is rated at 1,000 to 1,500 kg depending on version, so check the specific derivative before you order if towing matters.

Three years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. On a typical lease term that covers most or all of your contract, though heavy mileage drivers can pass 60,000 miles before the end. Our guide to running a lease car explains servicing and maintenance responsibilities.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time, and it moves as offers are refreshed. The entry Expression trim is currently from £318.54 a month. Check the live deals below, and our guide to choosing your car helps with term and mileage.

Front-wheel drive suits most drivers and is the lighter, more economical choice. All-wheel drive, offered on both the petrol and the hybrid, makes sense if you regularly face muddy tracks, steep farm entrances or unploughed winter roads.

Specifications from Dacia's UK data and Euro NCAP; equipment and availability vary by version, so check the individual deal before you order.
