The Changan Deepal S07 is a 4.75m, five-seat electric SUV sold in a single Ultra trim with an 80 kWh battery, 174 bhp and up to 295 miles of WLTP range. Our page explains who it suits, what comes as standard and how to choose, with live lease deals below.
The Changan Deepal S07 is a five-seat electric SUV, 4.75 metres long, with a 445-litre boot and a WLTP range of up to 295 miles. It's Changan's UK flagship and the car the brand has chosen to introduce itself with here.
Choosing one is refreshingly simple. There's one body style, one powertrain and one trim called Ultra, so the decision is about whether the car suits you rather than which version to pick.
It suits drivers who want a big, well-equipped family EV with charging at home or work, and who value kit and cabin space over outright range or rapid-charging speed.

The Deepal S07 is an electric SUV designed to compete with established family EVs on equipment and cabin quality. Changan is one of China's largest and oldest car makers.
Reviewers consistently praise the interior materials, the sheer amount of standard kit and the unusually sensible driver-assistance settings, which can be adjusted without a fight. The common criticisms are ride comfort on poor surfaces, motorway noise and a peak charging rate of 93 kW that lags rivals.
Against that, it carries a five-star Euro NCAP rating, a seven-year or 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty and a 445-litre boot with the rear seats up.
Because every S07 arrives loaded, there's no options list to agonise over and no risk of ending up on a stripped-out entry car. That matters more on a lease than people expect: you live with the spec you order for the whole contract.
Standard across the range are heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, electric seat memory, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, and a heat pump, which helps protect range in cold weather.
Safety kit is equally thorough, with autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam. Euro NCAP awarded five stars, including 95% for adult occupant protection.
There's only one, and it's fully electric, so the question is really whether an EV fits your week. If you can charge at home or at work and your regular journeys are comfortably inside the range, it works well.
An 80 kWh battery (75 kWh usable) feeds a 174 bhp rear-mounted motor, with 320 Nm of torque, 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds and up to 295 miles on the WLTP cycle. It's automatic, rear-wheel drive and quiet at town speeds.
Charging is the part to think through. A 30-80% top-up takes 48 minutes at its 93 kW peak, and a full 0-100% home charge takes nine hours at 11 kW, so overnight charging suits this car far better than frequent motorway stops. Our guide to charging an electric car covers the practicalities.
| Electric | |
|---|---|
| Boot | 445 litres |
| Power | 174 bhp |
| Seats | 5 |
| Battery | 80 kWh |
| 0–62 mph | 7.9 s |
| Braked towing | 1500 kg |
| Electric range (WLTP) | 295 miles |
There's one trim, Ultra, so the choice comes down to paint and how the car is funded rather than specification. Five colours are offered across the range, including Comet White, Eclipse black, Lunar grey, Nebula Green and Sunset orange.
Ultra is the 174 bhp rear-wheel-drive car, on 19-inch alloy wheels with part leather upholstery, plus 360-degree camera coverage, LED headlamps, navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Everything listed as standard across the range is included here, because there is nothing else to move up to.
The Ultra is currently available from £393.98 a month.
Worth checking before you order: kerb weight is 2,073 kg, which puts it beyond some older driveway and garage assumptions, and the insurance group is 45, so get a quote before you commit. Servicing runs every 12 to 24 months or 12,000 to 24,000 miles.
If you're weighing up alternatives, the BYD Sealion 7 covers very similar ground, while the Audi Q4, BMW iX1 and BMW iX2 offer badge-led alternatives. You can also browse the full Changan range.
