BMW M4 Convertible Lease Deals

A guide to leasing the BMW M4 Convertible, the drop-top version of BMW's 523bhp performance two-door, with four seats, all-wheel drive and a 385-litre boot. Covers the single petrol powertrain, the M4 Competition M trim and how the Convertible compares with the Coupe.

The BMW M4 Convertible is the open-top version of BMW M's two-door performance car: a 523bhp 3-litre turbo petrol six, all-wheel drive and four seats. It sits near the top of BMW's range, above the standard 4 Series and alongside the M3 saloon.

It suits a driver who wants genuine M-car pace but would rather hear that straight-six with the roof down than shave a tenth off a lap time. Road testers are consistent on this point: the Coupe is the sharper machine, the Convertible is the more enjoyable place to spend a sunny Sunday.

The choice here is refreshingly simple. One body, one powertrain, one trim - the M4 Competition M - so the real decisions are colour, options and contract terms.

About the BMW M4 Convertible

The current M4 Convertible is the second-generation car, on sale in this form since 2021. It's a four-seat, two-door drop-top with a 385-litre boot with the rear seats up, 523bhp, all-wheel drive and a 3-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty.

Reviewers consistently praise the engine and the traction: it's fiercely quick in any weather, and the all-wheel-drive system stays in the background rather than blunting the car. The common criticisms are the weight - this version tips the scales at 1,925 kg - and a ride that stays firm even in its softest setting.

Opinions on the tall grille have softened over the years. Roof down, with 650 Nm shoving you along, most owners stop caring.

M4 Convertible or M4 Coupe?

Take the Convertible for open-air driving and the M4 Coupe for outright sharpness and space. Both are 4.80 m long, 1.40 m tall and carry four people, so the differences are the roof, the boot and the weight.

The Coupe's boot holds 440 litres with the rear seats up against 385 litres in the Convertible, and it's 1,775 kg to the Convertible's 1,925 kg. That 150 kg is the weight added by the convertible structure and strengthening underneath.

If you're still weighing up bodies, the full BMW M4 range page covers both in one place. Everything on this page, and every deal below it, is the Convertible.

Why lease a BMW M4 Convertible?

Because the specification is generous from the start and you're never left choosing between kit and budget. Every M4 Convertible has a head-up display, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front sports seats with electric adjustment and memory, and wireless phone charging.

Driver assistance and parking kit is thorough: self-steering parking, a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers. Adaptive suspension, sports suspension and paddle shifters come as standard too, along with dual-zone climate control and ambient lighting.

Practically, it's a two-door with four seats, a 385-litre boot with the rear seats up and a 59-litre fuel tank. Servicing is every 24 months or 15,000 miles, and there's a tyre repair kit rather than a spare.

Which M4 Convertible powertrain is right for me?

There's one, so the decision is made for you: a petrol 3-litre turbo with 523bhp, an automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. No plug, no charging, no hybrid system to think about.

Petrol: 3-litre turbo, 523 bhp, automatic, all-wheel drive

The 3.0-litre six-cylinder produces 523bhp and 650 Nm through an 8-speed automatic, reaching 62mph in 3.7 seconds and a limited 155mph. Official WLTP economy is 26.9 mpg with CO2 of 239 g/km, so it's a car you lease with your heart, not a spreadsheet.

Which M4 Convertible trim should I choose?

There's a single trim, M4 Competition M, and it's comprehensively equipped.

The entry version and the only one: 523bhp, all-wheel drive, 20-inch Double Spoke 826m alloy wheels, leather upholstery, sports seats and automatic parking assist. Smartphone integration, heated front seats, a Harman Kardon surround sound system, a wireless charging tray and ambient lighting front and rear are all included.

Worth a thought at order stage: a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam are all factory options, as is the Ult Pk Pack. There are 14 paint colours across the range, from Alpine white to Sao Paulo Yellow.

Options have to be specified before the car is built, and they can't be added once it's on order, so it's worth settling the list before you sign. Our guide to choosing your car walks through mileage, term and specification decisions.

BMW M4 Convertible FAQs

It holds 385 litres with the rear seats up. That's smaller than the M4 Coupe's 440 litres, because the fabric roof needs somewhere to go. Enough for two people's luggage for a long weekend, rather than a family holiday.

It has four seats, but only two doors, so access to the back is awkward with child seats. Reviewers note the rear seats in this generation will take adults on shorter trips. As a second car it works; as the only family car, it's a stretch.

BMW covers it for 3 years with unlimited mileage, which suits high-mileage contracts. There's also a 3-year paintwork guarantee and a 6-year anti-corrosion guarantee. Servicing falls due every 24 months or 15,000 miles.

All-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic are standard, and they're the only choice on the Convertible. The upside is traction: road testers regularly describe the all-wheel-drive M4 as secure and easy to lean on in poor weather.
