View dealThe BMW M3 Saloon is a four-door performance car built around a 523 bhp 3-litre turbocharged petrol six, an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. It does 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds, yet still seats five and swallows a 480-litre boot load.
It sits at the sharp end of BMW's saloon line-up, above the standard 3 Series family and built by the same M division that has been making fast four-doors since the 1980s. Reviewers consistently rate its chassis as one of the finest in the class.
Choosing is refreshingly simple. One body style on this page, one petrol engine, one trim - M3 Competition M - plus the Ult Pk Pack and a long factory options list if you want to go further.

The M3 Saloon is a performance car you can genuinely use every day: five seats, four doors, a 480-litre boot and a 3-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty. This is the seventh-generation car, on sale in this form since 2022.
Road testers praise the same things almost every time - precision, traction and a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system that never feels like it's blunting the car. The common criticism is ride quality: it's firm at low speed, and sharper potholes make themselves known.
Size-wise it's 4.80 m long, 1.90 m wide (2.07 m with the mirrors out) and 1.44 m tall, on a 2.86 m wheelbase. Turning circle is 12.6 m, so town work is no drama, and the 59-litre tank pairs with 27.4 mpg on the WLTP test.
The Saloon is the lighter, more conventional shape; the M3 Estate is the one to have if you carry things. Both seat five and share a 4.80 m length and 2.86 m wheelbase.
The Estate gives you a 500-litre boot with the rear seats up and 1,510 litres folded, plus a 75 kg roof load and a tailgate you can load through. It's taller at 1.45 m and heavier at 1,865 kg against the Saloon's 1,780 kg.
So: dogs, bikes and flat-pack, take the Estate. Prefer the three-box proportions and the lower kerb weight, stay here. You can see both together on the BMW M3 range page.
Because the standard specification is generous and the contract keeps you in a car with a 3-year, unlimited-mileage warranty behind it - useful on a 523 bhp machine covering real mileage.
Every M3 Saloon gets a head-up display, digital instrument cluster, built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control and ambient lighting. Heated front sports seats with memory and an electrically adjustable driver's seat are standard, as are LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers and power-folding mirrors.
Driver assistance covers front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, self-steering parking and an electric parking brake. Adaptive suspension and sports suspension are fitted throughout, with paddle shifters behind the wheel.
One practical note before you order: the spare is a tyre repair kit, and servicing runs every 24 months or 15,000 miles. Our team will talk you through adding maintenance if you'd rather budget for that monthly.
There's one engine, so the decision is made for you: a petrol straight-six with an automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. No charging, no plug, no electric range to plan around.
A 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo petrol producing 523 bhp and 650 Nm, driving all four wheels through an 8-speed gearbox. That's 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and 155 mph. Expect 27.4 mpg and 233 g/km of CO2, with insurance group 42 - budget accordingly.
