BMW 5 Series Saloon Lease Deals

The BMW 5 Series Saloon is BMW's big executive four-door: five seats, a 520-litre boot, and a body that measures 5.06 metres nose to tail. It sits above the 3 Series and below the 7 Series, and it's the car most people picture when they think "company car with a badge".

The current 5 Series Saloon is the eighth-generation car, on sale in this form since 2024. You choose between a 2-litre turbo petrol and a plug-in hybrid, and between two trims: M Sport and M Sport Pro.

About the BMW 5 Series Saloon

It's a large, comfort-biased executive saloon built for long motorway miles, with five seats, a 520-litre boot and a 3-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty. Road testers consistently praise its refinement, body control and quiet cruising.

The 5 Series has carried BMW's reputation for driver-focused saloons through eight generations, and reviewers generally agree the current car keeps the balance while leaning more towards comfort than the sharpest versions of old. Criticism tends to land in two places: its size, at 5.06 m long and 3.00 m between the axles, and a cabin that moves more controls onto the screen than some drivers would like.

Towing is respectable for a saloon too, at up to 2,000 kg braked on the strongest versions and 750 kg unbraked.

5 Series Saloon or 5 Series Estate?

Both are 5.06 m long and seat five. The Saloon gives you a 520-litre boot behind a hinged bootlid; the 5 Series Estate gives you 570 litres with the seats up and 1,700 litres folded, plus five doors and a 100 kg roof load rather than the Saloon's 75 kg.

The Estate stands 1.52 m tall against the Saloon's 1.52 m, so parking height is much the same, and braked towing is 1,800-2,000 kg for both. Why lease a BMW 5 Series Saloon?

Because the standard kit list is generous on every version, and leasing keeps you in a car whose technology moves quickly. Every 5 Series Saloon has a 360-degree camera, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, built-in navigation and a digital instrument cluster.

The safety and assistance side is well covered too: autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, self-steering parking, automatic high beam and LED headlights are fitted across the range, with lane-keep assist and active lane-change assist on both trims.

Day to day, you also get wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding mirrors and an electric parking brake. Worth knowing before you order: there's no spare wheel, just a tyre repair kit, and the fuel tank holds 60 litres.

Which 5 Series Saloon powertrain is right for me?

Two choices: a 2-litre turbo petrol, or a plug-in hybrid you charge at home. Both are automatic.

Petrol

The 2-litre turbo has 205 bhp and 330 Nm, drives the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic, and does 0-62 mph in 7.5 seconds. Official economy is 45.6-48.7 mpg with CO2 of 131-141 g/km. No plug, no charging routine - the simple option if your miles are long and unpredictable.

Plug-in hybrid

A 22.1 kWh battery (19.0-19.4 kWh usable) pairs with a combined power of 295-482 bhp, rear- or all-wheel drive, and the same 8-speed automatic. Charging peaks at 11 kW, and the best version takes 2.3 hours from 0-100% at that rate. It suits drivers who can charge at home or at work.

M Sport

M Sport is the entry version, from 205 bhp with rear-wheel drive. It rides on 19-inch Double Spoke Style 935 M alloys, with leather and artificial leather upholstery, front sports seats, sports suspension, dual-zone climate, adaptive LED headlights, ambient lighting, a wireless charging tray and electrically adjustable door mirrors.

Options include a head-up display, a fixed panoramic glass roof, a heated steering wheel, privacy glass, a powered tailgate, a fixed towbar and adaptive suspension.

M Sport Pro

M Sport Pro takes the same starting point - 205 bhp, rear-wheel drive - and adds launch control plus 20-inch Star Spoke Style 938 M alloys, again with leather and artificial leather upholstery. The same option list applies, including adaptive suspension, which is worth a thought on the bigger wheels.

Both trims can also be specified with the Tech Plus Pack or the Comfort Plus Pack, or both together; the Tech Plus content includes the Technology plus pack with Parking Assistant Professional.
