View dealThe Audi Q3 Sportback is the coupé-roofed version of Audi's compact family SUV: five seats, five doors, 4.53 metres long, and a rear end that tapers instead of standing upright. It's the Q3 you choose because of how it looks.
In Audi's SUV range it sits below the Q5, sharing its cabin technology and much of its engineering with larger models while keeping a footprint that fits a normal parking space. Road testers generally describe it as comfortable, quiet and easy to drive rather than sporting, despite the name.
The choice here is straightforward: one body shape, three powertrains - petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid - and five trims, from Technik up to Vorsprung.

The Q3 Sportback is the current, third-generation Q3 wearing a lower, more steeply raked roofline. The Q3 Sportback and Q3 SUV differ mainly in styling and rear headroom.
Reviewers consistently praise the cabin technology - a curved panoramic display with a 12.8-inch touchscreen - and the settled, grown-up ride on smaller wheels, while noting that firmer low-speed ride and some cheaper plastics are the recurring criticisms. Rear seat headroom is the practical trade-off for the shape.
Boot space runs from 375 to 488 litres with the rear seats up depending on which version you pick, and every Q3 Sportback comes with a 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
Both cars are 4.53 metres long and seat five, and both can tow between 1,800 kg and 2,200 kg braked depending on the version. The difference is the roof: the Sportback's slopes, which costs rear headroom and space above the parcel shelf.
Boot capacity with the seats up is the same 375-488 litres on both, depending on version, but fold the rear seats and the upright car opens up to 1,293-1,386 litres against the Sportback's 1,196-1,289 litres. If you regularly carry tall loads or six-foot adults in the back, look at the Audi Q3 SUV. If you want the styling and can live with the lost space, the Sportback makes sense. You can see both shapes together on the full Audi Q3 range page.
Because the standard equipment list is unusually complete for a compact premium SUV, and leasing lets you hold it for a fixed term with the warranty running throughout. Every version and every trim gets adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, heated front seats and wireless phone charging.
Safety and assistance kit is standard across the range too: blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors and traffic sign recognition. Euro NCAP awarded five stars, with 87% for adult occupant protection and 86% for child occupants.
Day to day, you also get a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers and an electric parking brake without ticking a single option box. Our team has been arranging leases for over 25 years, and the questions that matter on this car are mileage, term and wheel size - big alloys look superb and are less forgiving on poor surfaces.
Three choices: petrol for most drivers, diesel for long motorway miles, plug-in hybrid if you can charge at home or work. All are automatic.
Power runs from 148 bhp to 261 bhp through a 7-speed automatic, with front- or all-wheel drive available. WLTP economy is quoted at 31.7-46.3 mpg depending on version, and 0-62 mph takes between 5.7 and 9.1 seconds. The sensible all-rounder if your mileage is moderate.
The 2-litre diesel offers 148-190 bhp, again with a 7-speed automatic and a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. WLTP economy of 42.8-53.3 mpg and up to 400 Nm of torque suit high-mileage drivers and towing, with braked towing of 2,000-2,200 kg.
A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine plus a 26.0 kWh battery (19.7 kWh usable) gives 268 bhp, front-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic. It needs plugging in to make sense: 0-100% takes 2.5 hours at 11 kW on the best version. Boot space drops to 375 litres. Our electric and hybrid guides explain the day-to-day routine.

Five trims, and because the safety and tech kit is standard throughout, the differences are mostly wheels, interior finish and comfort features.
The starting point, and better equipped than most entry trims. It brings 17-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, built-in navigation and the panoramic curved display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A panoramic roof and a retractable towbar are available as options.
Sport adds three-zone climate control and front sports seats over Technik, and moves up to 18-inch "Multi Spoke" alloy wheels with cloth trim. A heated steering wheel, electric seat memory and an electrically adjustable driver's seat remain on the options list, as does the opening panoramic roof.
S Line is the styling-led choice. Over Sport it adds interior elements in dinamica microfibre and artificial leather, privacy glass and the ambient lighting package pro, on 19-inch "5 Arm" alloy wheels with part-leather upholstery.
Black Edition builds on S Line with a heated steering wheel, electric seat memory and an electrically adjustable driver's seat, riding on 20-inch "5 W Spoke" alloys. Worth thinking about if you do cold early starts or share the car with another driver.
The fully loaded version. Over Black Edition it adds a panoramic glass sunroof with integrated wind deflector, park assist pro with remote functionality, adaptive cruise assist plus and a 10.9-inch front passenger touch display, plus a head-up display, matrix LED headlights and lane-keep assist. It starts at 201 bhp with all-wheel drive on 20-inch "5 Multi Spoke S" alloys.
There's also an optional Tech Pack, which is an add-on to a trim rather than a trim of its own. Which combinations are available to order changes, so check the individual deal or ask us.
