View dealThe Vauxhall Vivaro Life is a large van-based MPV built around people and their luggage, with six to nine seats depending on the version. If you regularly move a big family, a sports team or paying passengers, very little else does the job as plainly.
It sits at the practical end of Vauxhall's car line-up, well beyond any SUV for cabin space and closely related to the Vivaro van it is based on. There's one body style, from about 4.98 m long, with longer versions stretching to 5.33 m.
The choice itself is short: a 2.2-litre 177 bhp diesel automatic or a 75 kWh electric version with up to 213 miles of WLTP range, in Combi, Design or Ultimate trim.

The Vivaro Life is the passenger version of Vauxhall's medium van: a five-door MPV with six to nine seats, a 3.28 m wheelbase and a 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty. This is the current, third-generation car, on sale in this form since 2024.
Road testers consistently praise the sheer volume inside and the flexible cabin, plus a high, commanding driving position. The criticisms are equally consistent: it leans in corners, the ride can fidget when the car is lightly loaded, and nobody buys one for entertainment.
Because a nine-seater is a tool with a job, and a lease matches it to a fixed period of family or business life. Every Vivaro Life comes with heated front seats, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB radio and voice control.
Safety and driver assistance are standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, automatic high beam, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and an electric parking brake.
Two practical points worth knowing before you order. Servicing falls due every 24 months or 25,000 miles, which is unusually relaxed for a vehicle of this type, and there's no spare wheel - a tyre repair kit is what you get. At 1.89 m tall it will also clear most, but not all, height barriers.
There are two: a 2.2-litre diesel and a 75 kWh electric. Both are automatic and front-wheel drive, so the decision comes down to how far you travel in a day and where the vehicle sleeps at night.
The 2.2-litre diesel produces 177 bhp and 400 Nm through an eight-speed automatic, with a top speed of 106 mph and a 69-litre tank. That torque matters when all nine seats are full and the motorway climbs. Insurance sits in group 26-27.
The electric version pairs a 75 kWh battery with a 134 bhp motor and 260 Nm, giving up to 213 miles of WLTP range. It's leisurely - 14.3 seconds to 62 mph, 82 mph flat out - but quiet and easy in town. It needs charging, so a home or depot point is close to essential. Our electric car guide covers the basics.

Three trims: Combi, Design and Ultimate. They differ in comfort, trim materials and exterior finish rather than in how the vehicle drives, so pick on how the cabin will be used rather than on badge.
Combi is the working specification: 16-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, climate control and ambient lighting, with smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors, electric adjustable and heated door mirrors, cruise control with a speed limiter, and Driver Attention Alert level 4 with a driver monitoring camera. Built-in navigation is available as an option. The Combi is currently available from £473.72 a month.
Design adds ECO LED headlamps, along with front fog lights, power-folding door mirrors and 17-inch steel wheels. Upholstery stays cloth. A heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging and built-in navigation are all available as options here. The Design is currently available from £512.78 a month. Against the Combi, that is currently £39.06/mo more expensive.
Ultimate is the one for carrying guests rather than kit. It adds 17-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, front and rear park assist, and keyless entry and start, plus a 360-degree camera, massaging front seats, electric seat memory, blind-spot monitoring, dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming mirror and built-in navigation. A fixed panoramic glass roof is optional. The Ultimate is currently available from £598.45 a month. Against the Design, that is currently £85.67/mo more expensive.
If you're weighing up other large people carriers, the electric Kia PV5 and the closely related Citroën Space Tourer are the obvious places to look. You'll find the rest of the range on our Vauxhall leasing pages.
