View dealThe Škoda Octavia Estate is the load-carrying version of Škoda's long-running family car: five seats, five doors, a 640-litre boot with the rear seats up and a length of about 4.70 m, so it still fits a normal parking bay. If you want family space without an SUV, start here.
It sits above the smaller Škodas and below the Superb, and it's the car most people picture when they think of the brand: sensible, roomy, quietly well equipped. Reviewers consistently rate it among the best estates on sale for practicality and value.
The choice is straightforward. One body style on this page, Petrol or Diesel power, everyday trims of SE Technology, SE L and Sportline, plus the 261 bhp vRS if you want performance with the same boot.

This is the current fourth-generation Octavia Estate, on sale in this form since 2024. It carries five people, swallows 640 litres of luggage with the rear seats up and 1,700 litres with them folded, and comes with a 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty.
Road testers are consistent about what it is and isn't. It rides comfortably and covers motorway miles with very little drama, but it isn't a car that rewards you on a back road - comfort and space were the priorities, and that shows. Interior quality drew praise after the most recent update, particularly the 13" touchscreen, though some testers miss physical climate switches.
Euro NCAP awarded the Octavia five stars, with 85% for adult occupant protection. Braked towing runs up to 1,600 kg on the strongest versions, which is a genuine reason families with a caravan keep coming back to it.
The Estate is the one to have if luggage matters. It holds 640 litres with the seats up and 1,700 litres folded, against 600 and 1,555 litres for the Octavia Hatchback. Both seat five and both are about 4.70 m long.
So you gain boot volume and a square load area without gaining footprint, which is unusual. The Estate's Diesel versions tow 1,500-1,600 kg braked, at the top of the range shared with other versions. Kerb weight is a touch higher, at 1,298-1,468 kg. If you'd rather see everything side by side, the full Octavia range is one click away.
Because the standard specification is unusually complete for a family car, and because leasing keeps you in a car covered by its manufacturer warranty for the whole contract. Every version gets heated front seats, built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster and wireless phone charging.
Safety and assistance kit is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors. Roof rails, dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and LED headlights are fitted to every trim.
Practical details matter more than headline numbers on a car like this. Servicing falls every 12 months or 10,000 miles, the turning circle is 10.4 m, and the roof load limit is 75 kg. Worth knowing before you order: there's a tyre repair kit rather than a spare wheel.
Two choices, both front-wheel drive, and neither needs plugging in.
Power runs from 114 bhp to 261 bhp, with manual or automatic gearboxes and WLTP economy of 40.4-56.5 mpg. It suits lower-mileage drivers and town-and-suburb use, where a diesel rarely gets warm enough to shine. CO2 sits between 114 and 159 g/km depending on version.
The 2-litre Diesel offers 114-148 bhp, manual or automatic, and WLTP economy of 60.1-64.2 mpg. With 300-360 Nm of torque and braked towing of 1,500-1,600 kg, it's the motorway and towing choice. Our petrol or diesel guide covers the decision in more detail.
| Diesel | Petrol | |
|---|---|---|
| Boot | 640 litres | 640 litres |
| Power | 114–148 bhp | 114–261 bhp |
| Seats | 5 | 5 |
| 0–62 mph | 8.6–10.5 s | 6.5–10.7 s |
| Braked towing | 1500–1600 kg | 1300–1600 kg |
| Economy (WLTP) | 60.1–64.2 mpg | 40.4–56.5 mpg |
All four trims share the same boot and the same safety kit, so this is about wheels, seats and comfort features rather than capability.
The entry version starts at 114 bhp on 16-inch "Matar Aero" alloy wheels with cloth upholstery. It includes LED headlights, the 13" touchscreen with navigation, wireless SmartLink for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a black leather steering wheel and heated front seats. Adaptive cruise control, a rear-view camera, privacy glass and a retractable towbar are all available as options.
SE L is the Diesel comfort trim, on 17-inch "Mensa Aero" alloys with cloth upholstery. Over SE Technology it adds rear privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel, hands-free tailgate, keyless entry and start, and ambient lighting. Massaging or ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and three-zone climate control are on the options list.
Sportline starts at 148 bhp and rides on 18-inch "Vega Aero" alloys with sports suspension. Over SE Technology it brings a three-spoke leather sports multifunction steering wheel with paddles, rear privacy glass, front sports seats, a rear-view camera, automatic high beam and ambient lighting. A head-up display, matrix LED headlights and an opening panoramic roof are optional.
Then there's the performance Octavia.
The vRS is the 261 bhp Petrol flagship: 0-62 mph in as little as 6.5 seconds and a 155 mph top speed on the quickest version. Over Sportline it adds 19" Elias anthracite alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, matrix LED headlights, a hands-free tailgate and keyless entry and start. Adaptive suspension is an option.
