Leasing a Skoda Fabia
Engines and performance for the Skoda Fabia
The Skoda Fabia is an economical car to run and the range consists of a responsive 1.0 litre petrol engine producing either 59bhp and two turbocharged outputs of 94bhp or 110bhp. The diesel engine is no longer available. The petrol engines will return between 58 mpg and 63mpg and they are mated to either a five- or six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Equipment and handling
The Skoda Fabia is an excellent choice for those wanting a well-made supermini that offers a solid and nice to drive proposition. The 2020 model year saw the addition of two new optional packages that added more equipment but most of the trims have lots of kit. Available as either a hatchback or estate, the Fabia offers standard equipment including a 6.5-inch touchscreen that is easy to use, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and LED daytime running lights. Other trims feature alloy wheels, air conditioning and rear parking sensors. The Fabia also offers the SE trim which offers functionality and the SE Drive trim was introduced for 2020 bringing with it front parking sensors, satnav and larger wheels. The top models feature climate control, cruise control and keyless ignition and the flagship Monte Carlo delivers a body kit with black alloy wheels, privacy glass and a firmer suspension for a sportier performance. There's no doubt that the Skoda Fabia is a cheap car to run and it's a comfortable car to drive; it's a decent performer around town and no slouch on the motorway. The suspension delivers a smooth ride and the engines are responsive enough in most situations. Essentially, the Skoda Fabia is a practical supermini with plenty of space for adults and a decent-sized boot to make it worth shortlisting in a competitive segment with the higher specifications delivering cracking value for money.
