Overview of the Mercedes-Benz GLB

THE NEW COMPACT SUV MERCEDES GLB
INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR

First impressions of the GLB are positive. Slightly more grown-up than the likes of the GLA and squared off it gives a distinct feeling of prestige mixed with an actual real SUV. There’s a striking headlight design, a ‘simulated’ underride guard, roof rails and some cladding. The front and rear approach angles are raised to help it venture off the road should the mood take you.
Inside is very reminiscent of the New Mercedes A-Class, which is no bad thing, but with some individual touches for the GLB. The dash is more upright, there are some useful aluminium grab handles to reinforce its off-roading potential and those amazing dual screens in the digital widescreen cockpit.

The interior space is helped with ingenious functionality. The second seat row has optional fore/aft adjustment to give you more legroom or more boot space as you see fit, they also can recline. Not only this but you can even spec. the car with two small seats, turning the compact SUV into a 7-seater. These two seats are really meant for people up to 5ft 5in in height something worth being aware of. Boot capacity is 560 litres in 5 seat configuration that increases to a mammoth 1755 litres with all rear seats folded down.

Final details of specifications are still being realised for the GLB but expect equipment levels to be on a par with the A-Class with the usual offerings of the Premium and Premium Plus packs adding big-ticket spec. such as panoramic roofs, augmented reality video sat-nav and high-end audio. There is also some GLB specific off-road options to come too, like hill-descent control.

POWERTRAINS
Initially, the Mercedes GLB will come with 2 petrol and 2 diesel engines. The petrol will only be offered as a two-wheel drive. The GLB200 will come with 163bhp, and the GLB250 will come with substantially more at 225bhp. The GLB200d will come with 150bhp and 4-Matic will be optional, whereas the 190bhp GLB220d will be all-wheel drive as standard.

SUMMARY
The New Mercedes-Benz GLB provides an enthralling mix of SUV with style. While really excelling as a family load-lugger! The level of specification is again incredible from Mercedes with all kinds of options available, such as the augmented reality sat-nav, flexible seating arrangements and air vents that change colour depending on whether you’re putting the heat up or down. Overall it makes for a very lovely compact SUV package.
