View dealThe Mercedes-Benz E Class Saloon is the executive four-door that sits above the C Class and below the S Class, and it is built around comfort rather than sharp handling. Five seats, four doors, roughly 4.95 m long, and a cabin that reviewers consistently describe as quiet, plush and closer to a luxury car than a rep-mobile.
It suits high-mileage drivers, company car users and anyone who spends long stretches on motorways. If you want a car that makes 300 miles feel like 100, this is the shape that does it.
The choice is straightforward: one body style on this page, three powertrains (petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid), three everyday trims and two AMG performance versions.

This is the current, sixth-generation E Class Saloon, on sale in this form since 2024, and it carries one of the oldest continuous model names in the business. It is a five-seat executive saloon with a boot of 370 to 540 litres depending on version.
Road testers reliably praise the same things: refinement, ride comfort and seats you can sit in for hours. The common criticism is the amount of screen-led technology, which some find distracting until you learn it.
Every version comes with a 3-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty, and Euro NCAP awarded the E Class five stars, with 92% for adult occupant protection. Braked towing runs to 2,100 kg.
Pick the Saloon if you want the classic four-door shape and a sealed, secure boot; pick the E Class Estate if you regularly carry bulky loads. Both seat five and both tow up to 2,100 kg braked.
The Saloon's boot is 370 to 540 litres with the rear seats up. The Estate starts at 460 litres and reaches 615 litres seats up, and up to 1,830 litres with the rear seats folded, which the Saloon cannot match. The Estate shares the same 4.95 to 4.97 m length range as the Saloon, so parking is much the same.

Because the standard specification is genuinely complete and the running-cost picture suits a fixed monthly contract. Every version and trim gets built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless phone charging, keyless entry and start, a powered tailgate, ambient lighting, privacy glass and LED headlights.
Safety kit is standard across the board too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors and self-steering parking. That's what earned the five-star Euro NCAP result, with 87% for safety assist.
Servicing falls every 12 months or 12,500 to 15,500 miles, which fits neatly around a typical lease term. One practical note from our side of the desk: there's no spare wheel, just a tyre repair kit, so factor that into how you use the car.
Three choices, all automatic with a 9-speed gearbox: petrol for lower-mileage drivers, diesel for long motorway journeys, plug-in hybrid if you can charge and want low company car tax.
A 2-litre turbo with 201 bhp and rear-wheel drive, reaching 62 mph in 7.5 seconds. WLTP economy is 42.2 to 43.5 mpg and CO2 is 148 to 151 g/km. It gets the largest boot at 540 litres, and suits drivers covering moderate mileage on mixed roads.
The long-distance option, from 194 bhp to 362 bhp, rear- or all-wheel drive. WLTP economy of 47.1 to 58.9 mpg and up to 750 Nm of torque make it the natural pick for regular motorway work or towing. Insurance groups sit between 41 and 50.
A 20 to 21.2 kWh battery (25.4 kWh usable) paired with petrol power from 309 bhp to 577 bhp, rear- or all-wheel drive. It needs charging to make sense: the best version takes 10-100% in 2 hours at 11 kW. The boot drops to 370 litres.

Start with Urban Edition, move up if you want the roof, the cameras and the seats; the AMG versions are a different proposition entirely.
The entry trim, with 201 bhp and rear-wheel drive. It brings 20-inch AMG multispoke alloys in black with a high-sheen rim flange, hard disc navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, artico nappa-look trim on the dash and door beltlines, heated front seats, adaptive suspension and dual-zone climate. A fixed towbar is available as an option.
Exclusive swaps to 19-inch multispoke alloys in termolite grey and full leather upholstery, then adds MBUX augmented reality navigation, a panoramic sliding sunroof, active park assist with parktronic and a 360-degree camera, keyless go comfort access, a heated steering wheel and electric seat memory. Air suspension, four-wheel steering, adaptive cruise control and active lane-change assist are all options here.
AMG Line takes the Exclusive kit and adds a head-up display and multicontour front seats with massage, plus heated rear seats. It also moves to 20-inch AMG multispoke alloys. The same air suspension and four-wheel steering options are available.
Then there are the two AMG versions, both plug-in hybrids with 577 bhp and all-wheel drive.
The 577 bhp AMG plug-in hybrid covers 0-62 mph in as little as 3.8 seconds across the plug-in range. Over Urban Edition it adds MBUX augmented reality navigation, a panoramic sliding sunroof, nappa leather, active park assist with parktronic and a 360-degree camera, keyless go comfort access and four-wheel steering, on 20-inch AMG 10 twin spoke alloys.
An edition of the AMG, so the mechanical package is the same 577 bhp plug-in hybrid. It adds a heated steering wheel and armrest, a head-up display, massaging front seats and four-zone climate control, on 20-inch AMG 5 twin spoke alloys, and leans on darker exterior styling rather than extra hardware.
Ten paint colours are offered across the range, from opalite white to patagonia red and velvet brown. Availability of any trim or colour depends on what's in the market at the time, so check the current deals or ask our team.
If you're shortlisting executive saloons, the Audi A6 covers much the same ground on size, refinement and company car appeal. You can also browse the wider Mercedes-Benz lease range if you're not fixed on this size of car.
