The Kia K4 is Kia's five-door family hatchback, sold in the UK with petrol engines from 113 to 177 bhp and a choice of Pure, GT-Line and GT-Line S trims. This page explains who it suits, what each trim adds and how to choose before you look at the live lease deals.
The Kia K4 is a five-door family hatchback built around space rather than showmanship. At 4.44 metres long with five seats, a boot of up to 438 litres depending on version and a seven-year warranty behind it, it's aimed squarely at drivers who want a traditional hatchback instead of a small SUV.
It sits in Kia's petrol-powered family car slot, below the brand's larger SUVs and alongside its electric models for anyone not ready to plug in. Reviewers consistently describe it as roomy, well equipped and easy to live with, if not the sharpest thing in its class to drive.
The choice is simple: one hatchback body, petrol engines from 113 to 177 bhp with manual or automatic gearboxes, and three trims - Pure, GT-Line and GT-Line S.

The K4 is Kia's family hatchback: five seats, five doors, 4.44 metres long on a 2.72-metre wheelbase, with petrol power only and front-wheel drive throughout. It's one of the larger cars of its type, and that shows most in the back seats.
Road testers repeatedly single out rear legroom and boot capacity as its strongest cards, and they're equally consistent that the driving experience is comfortable rather than exciting. Soft suspension, light steering, no pretence at being a hot hatch.
Kia's seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty applies, and servicing falls every 12 months or 10,000 miles. Boot space runs from 328 to 438 litres with the seats up depending on which version you pick, rising to between 1,107 and 1,217 litres folded.
Because the standard kit list is long and the running costs are predictable. Every K4 gets built-in navigation on a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, LED headlights and an electric parking brake.
Safety and driver assistance are standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
Practically, it's a sensible family shape. Five seats, a turning circle of 10.8 m, a 47-litre fuel tank and braked towing of up to 1,410 kg on the right version. A tyre repair kit is supplied rather than a spare wheel, which is worth knowing before delivery day.
There's one powertrain family to choose from, so the decision is really about engine size and gearbox. Every K4 is petrol, front-wheel drive, and uses no plug and no charging cable.
Power runs from 113 to 177 bhp, with 200 to 265 Nm of torque, 0-62 mph in 8.4 to 12.3 seconds and WLTP economy of 42.2 to 49.6 mpg. CO2 sits between 129 and 152 g/km. Manual and automatic gearboxes are offered, with six or seven speeds depending on version.
In practice, the lower-powered versions suit town and commuting miles, while the stronger engines make motorway work and towing easier. If you're weighing fuel type generally, our guide to petrol, diesel and electric is a useful starting point.

Three trims, and the jump between them is about comfort kit and cabin finish rather than anything mechanical. Pure covers the essentials, GT-Line adds warmth and style, GT-Line S is the fully loaded one.
Pure rides on 16-inch alloy wheels with cloth upholstery and air conditioning, plus LED headlights, the 12.3-inch touchscreen navigation system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an artificial leather steering wheel. Entry versions have 113 bhp and front-wheel drive. The Pure is currently available from £292.76 a month.
GT-Line moves to 17-inch alloys and artificial leather upholstery, and adds heated front seats, driver's lumbar support, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, wireless phone charging, blind-spot monitoring, privacy glass and power-folding door mirrors. The GT-Line is currently available from £326.53 a month. Against the Pure, that is currently £33.77/mo more expensive.
GT-Line S keeps the 17-inch alloys and artificial leather, then adds a tilting and sliding electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The GT-Line S is currently available from £375.89 a month. Against the GT-Line, that is currently £49.36/mo more expensive.
