The KGM Rexton is a large seven-seat diesel SUV with all-wheel drive, braked towing up to 3,500 kg and a five-year warranty. This page explains what the Rexton is good at, and how the K30 and K51 trims differ.
The KGM Rexton is a seven-seat SUV built the old-fashioned way: a big diesel, all-wheel drive and braked towing up to 3,500 kg. It's the largest car KGM sells, and it suits people who need a vehicle to earn its keep rather than simply look the part on the school run.
There's one body style, one engine and two trims, so choosing is refreshingly quick. Every Rexton is a five-door SUV with seven seats, powered by a 2.2-litre 199 bhp diesel driving all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.
That leaves the real decision as K30 or K51, which is mostly about wheels, roof and camera technology rather than how the car drives.

The Rexton is a 4.85 m long, seven-seat 4x4 with a towing limit of 3,500 kg braked and a five-year or 100,000-mile manufacturer warranty. It's the flagship of KGM's range, and the current Rexton has been on sale in this form since 2024.
Reviewers consistently praise the same things: the sheer amount of metal and equipment for the money, the towing ability, and interior space that works for seven at a push and four in genuine comfort. They are equally consistent about the trade-off, which is ride comfort - the Rexton is firm and busy on poor surfaces in a way most family SUVs are not.
Boot space is 240 litres with all seven seats in use, rising to 1,806 litres with the rear seats folded. Think of it as a workhorse that happens to carry seven, rather than a soft family crossover with a towbar.
Leasing suits the Rexton because it's a high-mileage, hard-working vehicle with high CO2 emissions, and a contract hire agreement fixes your monthly rental for the term rather than leaving you exposed to what a big diesel 4x4 is worth in three or four years.
Every Rexton, whichever trim you choose, comes with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, keyless entry and start, a powered tailgate, dual-zone climate control, built-in navigation with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital instrument cluster.
Driver assistance is equally generous as standard: autonomous emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, automatic high beam, rain-sensing wipers and an electric parking brake. Roof rails, privacy glass and power-folding mirrors come on every version too.
There's only one, which makes this simple: a 2.2-litre diesel with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. No plug, no charging, no hybrid system to understand.
The 2.2-litre diesel produces 199 bhp and 441 Nm of torque through an eight-speed automatic, reaching 62 mph in 10.7 seconds. WLTP economy is 34.0 mpg and CO2 is 217-218 g/km, so it's a private or sole-trader car far more often than a company car choice.
It's the torque that matters here rather than the pace. That's what makes 3,500 kg braked towing comfortable, and why caravanners and horsebox owners keep coming back to the Rexton. If you want the background on diesel particulate filters before you commit, our guide covers it.
| Diesel | |

| Boot | 240 litres |
| Power | 199 bhp |

| Economy (WLTP) | 34 mpg |
Two trims, K30 and K51, with the same engine, same drivetrain and the same towing ability - the difference is wheels, roof, cabin trim and parking technology.
K30 is far from a stripped-out entry point. It brings 18-inch 10-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 12.3-inch HD screen with TomTom navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and luxury faux leather upholstery, on top of the heated and ventilated seats fitted across the range.
The K30 is currently available from £504.47 a month.
K51 adds 20-inch 10-spoke bright-finish alloy wheels, a power-opening panoramic glass sunroof, suede accents on the front door trims and dash, and a 3D around-view camera system. It also gains leather upholstery, electric seat memory, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, air conditioning and ambient lighting.
If you park a 4.85 m SUV in tight places, or reverse onto a hitch regularly, the 360-degree camera is the one that earns its place. The K51 is currently available from £609.84 a month. Against the K30, that is currently £105.37/mo more expensive.
If you need seven seats but rarely leave tarmac, the Kia Sorento covers similar family ground with a smoother on-road manner. You can also see what else is available across the KGM range.
