With such a wide selection of citycars currently available, few can lay claim to being the best available though the i10 does a very good job of doing so. With its exceptional good looks and excellent use of space, the i10 offers a great level of motoring for the money which few can compete with. In addition, the car is also great fun to drive and has won many plaudits since its launch.
It goes without saying that the i10 is very cheap to run and there's an impressive 1.0 litre three cylinder engine which should return around 60 mpg while having CO2 emissions of 108g/km - though there is a more economic version available which should return around 61 mpg since it's fitted with stop-start technology. However, opt for the 1.0 litre petrol i10 with the four-speed automatic clutch and economy will drop to 47 mpg while having CO2 emissions of 137g/km. For the cheapest motoring, potential owners should opt for the 1.0 litre BlueDrive model which should return around 66 mpg with CO2 emissions of 98g/km which means that, under current rules, the car would be exempt from road tax.
Comfort also plays an important role in the enjoyment of the i10 and the soft suspension deals with potholes and rough roads with ease to make this a great car to drive in towns. The i10 is also very quiet thanks to the insulation and it's also has a surprising amount of space on board and can easily fit tall adults into the rear seats though that might only work for short journeys. The designers have worked really well with the space available to make it a practical choice and the boot size measures 252 litres and with the rear seats folded flat this will expand to a more useful 1,046 litres. It's also reassuring to know that the i10 comes with a five year unlimited mileage warranty so the car should be reliable and trouble-free
There's a decent level of standard kit for the i10 including USB connectivity, central locking, tyre pressure monitoring and six airbags. Safety is underlined by the addition of stability control. The top spec models also get Bluetooth connectivity that has voice recognition too as well as steering wheel mounted controls. While many city cars have no fun element when driven that's not the case with the i10 which really does surprise people when they get behind wheel because the car is sprightly and agile and keen to impress which makes it a great combination for a city car and at a keen price.
