View dealThe GWM Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid is a five-seat family SUV with a self-charging petrol-electric engine, aimed at drivers who want a well-equipped crossover and a long warranty without plugging anything in. It's the Haval-badged SUV in GWM's UK line-up, alongside the brand's electric models.
The choice here is simple. One body style, one powertrain - a 186 bhp 1.5-litre hybrid with an automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive - and three trims: Premium, Lux and Ultra.
So the decision you're really making is how much equipment you want, not which engine or which shape.

The Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid is a 4.47-metre, five-door SUV that competes with the family crossovers most UK buyers already know, and undercuts many of them on equipment for the money. Haval is GWM's SUV brand, big in China and Australia long before it reached Britain.
Reviewers consistently praise the generous standard kit, the rear legroom and the punchy feel of the electric motor around town. They're just as consistent about the criticisms: a firm, busy ride, a noisy engine when worked hard, and a 255-litre boot that is small for the class.
Against that, GWM covers every Haval with a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty - genuinely useful reassurance on a brand that's still new here.
Because the standard specification is unusually complete and a lease keeps you inside the warranty period for the whole contract. Every version gets adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and dual-zone climate control.
Driver assistance is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist and traffic sign recognition, plus a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors.
Practicality is a mixed picture, and worth being straight about. Five seats and 2.70 metres of wheelbase give decent rear space, but the boot holds 255 litres with the seats up and 916 litres folded, and braked towing is capped at 750 kg. If you regularly carry a pushchair plus a weekly shop, measure before you commit.
There's only one, so this part of the decision is made for you: a self-charging 1.5-litre hybrid with 186 bhp, an automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive. No plug, no charging cable, no home charger needed.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine works with an electric motor fed by a small 1.7 kWh battery, which the car charges itself as you drive. It produces 186 bhp and 375 Nm, covers 0-62 mph in 9.0 seconds, and returns 47.0 mpg with CO2 of 133 g/km on the official WLTP test.
In practice, it's happiest in town, where the motor does most of the work and the engine stays quiet. Push it hard on a motorway slip road and you'll hear it. If you want more background on how self-charging hybrids differ from plug-ins, our electric and hybrid leasing guides cover it.
| Hybrid | |
|---|---|
| Boot | 255 litres |
| Power | 186 bhp |
| Seats | 5 |
| Battery | 1.69 kWh |
| 0–62 mph | 9 s |
| Braked towing | 750 kg |
| Economy (WLTP) | 47 mpg |
All three trims share the same 186 bhp hybrid engine and front-wheel drive, so you're choosing wheels, seat materials and convenience kit rather than performance.
Premium is the entry version and it's far from basic: 17-inch chrome alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera, four rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control. Enough for most drivers, honestly.
The Premium is currently available from £357.34 a month.
Lux moves up to 18-inch chrome alloy wheels and adds LED headlights, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats and a 360-degree surround camera. It also brings an electrically adjustable driver's seat, privacy glass, power-folding door mirrors and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
The Lux is currently available from £351.00 a month. Against the Premium, that is currently £6.34/mo cheaper. Best value
Ultra adds a panoramic opening sunroof, a ventilated driver's seat, six front parking sensors, a wireless phone charger and multi-colour ambient lighting. You also get a head-up display, automatic parking assist and roof rails, on the same 18-inch alloys and leatherette trim as Lux.
The Ultra is currently available from £360.70 a month. Against the Lux, that is currently £9.70/mo more expensive.
If the Jolion Pro Hybrid's boot is the sticking point, the Dacia Bigster covers similar ground with more luggage space. You can also see what else the brand offers on our GWM leasing page.
