View dealThe CUPRA Tavascan is an all-electric SUV: five seats, a 540-litre boot and styling that nobody could call shy. It sits at the top of CUPRA's line-up as the brand's flagship, and it's sold in one body style only.
Everything is electric. Batteries run from 61 kWh to 82 kWh, power from 187 bhp to 335 bhp, and the best version manages up to 344.9 miles on the WLTP test. Every Tavascan is automatic, with rear- or all-wheel drive depending on the version.
So the choice is simpler than most: one body, one fuel, four trims - V1, V2, VZ1 and VZ2. Pick your drive layout, then pick how much kit you want.

The Tavascan is CUPRA's electric family SUV with a coupe roofline, 4.64 m long. It's the choice for a driver who wants an electric SUV that stands out rather than blends in.
Reviewers consistently praise the way it looks, inside and out - the copper detailing, the floating centre console, the big central screen - and they agree it's spacious front and rear. The 540-litre boot draws regular praise from testers who've lived with one for months.
The criticisms are consistent too: a firm ride, brakes that lack feel, and touch-sensitive controls inherited from its Volkswagen Group cousins. CUPRA backs it with a five-year, 90,000-mile warranty, and it scored five stars at Euro NCAP.
Because even the entry trim is generously equipped, and leasing keeps you inside the warranty for the whole contract. Every Tavascan gets adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, a hands-free tailgate, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging and built-in navigation.
Safety kit is standard across the board: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. Euro NCAP's five-star result included 89% for adult occupant protection and 86% for child occupants.
Practically, it's a proper family car - five seats, 540 litres of boot space with the rear seats up, and braked towing of up to 1,800 kg on the strongest versions. Self-sealing tyres replace a spare wheel, which is worth knowing before you order.
There's one answer here: the Tavascan is electric only. There's no petrol, diesel or hybrid option, so it needs charging, and it suits drivers who can plug in at home or reliably at work.
Battery capacity spans 61-82 kWh and power 187-335 bhp, with up to 344.9 miles of WLTP range from the best version. It's automatic throughout, rear- or all-wheel drive, and rapid charging takes 10-80% in 28 minutes at 135 kW on the best version.
Home charging on an 11 kW supply fills the battery from 0-100% in six hours at best, so overnight is comfortable. If you're new to this, our electric car guide and our advice on how to charge an electric car are worth ten minutes.

All four Tavascan trims are performance-flavoured, so the real decision is rear-wheel drive with 282 bhp (V1 and V2) or all-wheel drive with 335 bhp (VZ1 and VZ2), then how much equipment you want on top.
The rear-wheel-drive starting point, with 282 bhp, 19-inch Vulcano silver machined alloy wheels on 235/55 R19 tyres, the signature three-eye triangular LED headlights, navigation with CUPRA Connect online services, wireless smartphone integration and a heated leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel. Cloth upholstery, sports seats, privacy glass and a powered tailgate come as standard.
The V1 is currently available from £360.72 a month.
Same 282 bhp rear-wheel-drive setup, dressed up. V2 brings 21-inch Katla machined alloys with copper inserts on 255/40 R21 performance tyres, a fixed panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker Sennheiser audio, a top-view camera, "Immersive" ambient lighting, a head-up display, matrix LED headlights and adaptive suspension.
The V2 is currently available from £434.24 a month. Against the V1, that is currently £73.52/mo more expensive.
VZ1 is where the all-wheel-drive 335 bhp powertrain arrives, on the same 21-inch Katla alloys and cloth upholstery as V2. Beyond the drivetrain and its presentation, it's about looks rather than extra equipment - a different flavour of V2 rather than a step up in kit.
The VZ1 is currently available from £543.28 a month. Against the V2, that is currently £109.03/mo more expensive.
The fully loaded one. VZ2 keeps the 335 bhp all-wheel-drive setup and adds 21-inch Etna forged alloys with copper inserts, leather upholstery, ventilated front sports seats, and power adjustment with lumbar support and memory for driver and front passenger.
The VZ2 is currently available from £595.03 a month. Against the VZ1, that is currently £51.76/mo more expensive.
Two option packs are worth asking about on lower trims. The IDP Pack bundles 19-inch Vulcano machined alloys, Signature LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, keyless advanced locking and starting with safelock, and the 10.25" Digital Cockpit with 15" central display. The IDP+Winter Pack adds the Winter Pack on top.
If the Tavascan is on your list, it's worth a look at the Škoda Enyaq and Volkswagen ID.4, which cover similar ground, plus the BYD Sealion 7 and the smaller OMODA 5. Our full CUPRA range is here too.
