BYD Seal 6 Saloon Lease Deals

The BYD Seal 6 Saloon is a five-seat plug-in hybrid four-door offered in Boost and Comfort trims, with a 491-litre boot and a six-year, 93,750-mile manufacturer warranty. This page explains who it suits, how the two trims differ, and shows live Saloon lease deals below.

The BYD Seal 6 Saloon is a five-seat, four-door family car with a plug-in hybrid petrol engine, built for drivers who want short electric journeys during the week and no charging anxiety on a long run at the weekend.

It sits in the petrol-electric half of BYD's UK line-up rather than the pure-electric half, and shares its approach with the brand's hybrid SUVs: lots of standard kit, a big fuel tank and a battery you plug in at home.

The choice here is simple. One body, one plug-in hybrid powertrain, and two trims - Boost and Comfort - separated mainly by power, wheels and comfort equipment.

About the BYD Seal 6 Saloon

This is a 4.84-metre, five-seat saloon designed around low running costs rather than driving thrills. It carries a 491-litre boot, a 65-litre fuel tank and a six-year, 93,750-mile manufacturer warranty - unusually long reassurance from a brand still new to most UK drivers.

Reviewers consistently praise the powertrain, which feels electric in normal driving and stays quiet when the petrol engine joins in, and they like the amount of equipment included. The common criticisms are ride comfort over poor surfaces and steering that tells you little.

Seal 6 Saloon or Seal 6 Estate?

Pick the Saloon if you prefer the four-door shape and don't need a big load opening; pick the estate if you carry bulky things. Both are 4.84 m long and seat five, so the difference is the back end, not the cabin.

The Saloon holds 491 litres with the rear seats up and 1,370 litres folded. The Seal 6 Estate holds 500 litres and 1,535 litres folded, adds a fifth door and a 75 kg roof load, and weighs slightly more at 1,710-1,805 kg against the Saloon's 1,665-1,765 kg.

Why lease a BYD Seal 6 Saloon?

Because every version arrives well equipped and the safety kit isn't reserved for the dearer trim. Adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an electrically adjustable driver's seat and LED headlights are standard across the range.

So is the driver-assistance list: autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors. Euro NCAP awarded the Seal 6 five stars, with 92% for adult occupant protection and 90% for child occupant protection.

Servicing falls every 12 months or 10,000 miles, and the drive battery has its own eight-year, 155,000-mile warranty guaranteeing 70% of capacity. On a three or four-year lease, that cover outlasts the contract.

Which Seal 6 Saloon powertrain is right for me?

There's only one, so the decision is really about how much battery you want.

Plug-in hybrid

A 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine works with an electric motor and a 10.1-19.0 kWh battery, driving the front wheels through an automatic single-speed transmission. Power runs from 181 bhp to 209 bhp depending on version, with 300 Nm of torque and 0-62 mph in 8.5-8.9 seconds.

You don't have to plug it in - the car will run as a hybrid - but you'll only see the low running costs if you charge regularly. Home charging takes 2.7 hours from 15-100% at 6.6 kW on the best version, and the quickest version accepts 26 kW public charging, 30-80% in 23 minutes.

Which Seal 6 Saloon trim should I choose?

Boost

The entry version has 181 bhp, front-wheel drive and 17-inch Monochrome alloy wheels, with artificial leather upholstery and a vegan leather multifunction steering wheel. LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a reversing camera are all included, so nothing important is missing.

Comfort

Comfort steps up to 209 bhp and 18-inch Monochrome alloys, and adds an opening panoramic roof, ventilated and heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, electric seat memory, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, wireless phone charging, privacy glass, ambient lighting and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

BYD Seal 6 Saloon FAQs

No. It will run as a normal hybrid using the 1.5-litre petrol engine and its 65-litre tank. But the point of a plug-in hybrid is the electric-only running, so charge it when you can - 15-100% takes 2.7 hours at 6.6 kW on the best version. Our electric and hybrid guides explain the basics.

For most families, yes. It seats five and scored five Euro NCAP stars with 90% for child occupant protection. Reviewers do note rear headroom is tighter than in the estate, so sit tall teenagers in the back before you order.

491 litres with the rear seats up, rising to 1,370 litres with them folded. That's competitive for a saloon of this size, but it's a saloon opening rather than a hatch, so wide, tall items are harder to load than in the estate.

Six years or 93,750 miles on the vehicle, and eight years or 155,000 miles on the drive battery, with 70% of capacity guaranteed. Servicing is due every 12 months or 10,000 miles. On a typical lease term, the car stays inside manufacturer warranty throughout.

Reasonably. It's 1.88 m wide (2.10 m with the mirrors) with an 11.0 m turning circle, and every version gets a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors and power-folding mirrors. Comfort adds front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera, which is worth having if you park in narrow city bays.

It depends entirely on what's available at the time. Rentals move as pricing is refreshed, and the entry trim isn't automatically the cheapest each month. Check the live Seal 6 Saloon deals below - they're for the Saloon only - or ask our team and we'll compare terms with you.
