View dealThe Audi Q5 SUV is a five-seat premium family SUV: 4.72 metres long, all-wheel drive on every version, with a boot of 438 to 520 litres depending on which one you choose. It sits above the smaller Q3 in Audi's SUV line-up and below the Q7, and the current Q5 SUV has been on sale in this third-generation form since 2025.
It suits buyers who want a car that's easy to live with every day and still feels expensive inside - school run, motorway commute, occasional towing of up to 2,400 kg braked on the right version.
The choice is simple enough to hold in your head. One body style here, three powertrains (Petrol, Diesel and Plug-in hybrid), four everyday trims from Sport to Vorsprung, and two performance SQ5 versions above them.

The Q5 is Audi's biggest-selling model worldwide, and this generation is an evolution rather than a rethink: familiar proportions, a heavily redesigned cabin built around a 14.5-inch curved touchscreen, and a 2.83 m wheelbase that gives five adults proper room.
Reviewers consistently praise the ride comfort, the refinement of the engines and the confidence-inspiring handling, particularly on the air suspension that's optional from S Line upwards. The common criticism is that some rivals feel a shade plusher inside for the money.
It carries a 3-year / 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, with 85% for adult occupant protection and 86% for child occupants.
Both are 4.72 m long with a 2.83 m wheelbase and five seats, so the decision is about shape and boot, not size. The SUV has the squarer roofline and the bigger load bay; the Sportback trades a little of that for a sleeker tail.
The SUV's boot runs from 438 to 520 litres with the seats up and 1,358 to 1,473 litres folded. The Q5 Sportback gives 433 to 515 litres and 1,300 to 1,415 litres folded. Towing is up to 2,400 kg braked on both. To see every version together, use the full Audi Q5 range.
Because the standard kit list is strong from the entry trim up, which matters more on a lease than a long options list you'll hand back in three years. Every Q5 SUV gets adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation and a digital instrument cluster.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard too, along with three-zone climate control, ambient lighting and power-folding mirrors. On safety, every version has autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam and automatic parking assist.
Practically, you get five seats, roof rails from Sport upwards, a fuel tank of 55 to 65 litres depending on version, and a turning circle of 11.8 to 12.0 m. Note the spare is a tyre repair kit, not a wheel - worth knowing before you order.
All three are automatic with all-wheel drive, so the real question is whether you can charge at home and how many motorway miles you cover.
From 201 bhp up to 362 bhp, with a 7-speed automatic gearbox and no plug to worry about. WLTP economy is 34.0 to 40.4 mpg and CO2 159 to 188 g/km. The pick if your mileage is moderate and you'd rather not think about charging.
A 2-litre, 201 bhp four-cylinder with 400 Nm of torque, 0-62 mph in 7.4 seconds and WLTP economy of 44.1 to 47.1 mpg. It's the long-distance choice, and with 2,400 kg braked towing it's the one caravan and trailer owners tend to ask about.
A 2-litre turbo petrol with a 25.9 kWh battery (20.7 kWh usable) and 295 bhp combined, good for 0-62 mph in 6.2 seconds. It needs charging to make sense: 11 kW AC charging fills it from 0-100% in 2.5 hours on the best version. Boot is 438 litres.

Sport already covers the essentials, so the trims above it are mostly about wheels, cabin materials and parking technology.
The entry trim, on 19-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloys with leather and artificial leather upholstery. It includes the 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen with navigation, camera-based traffic sign recognition, park assist plus, adaptive cruise control, LED headlights and roof rails. A panoramic roof and retractable towbar are options.
Adds perforated leather steering wheel grips and shift paddles, privacy glass and sports suspension, on 20-inch "5 Arm" alloys. It's also the first trim on which air suspension becomes an option, which is the change most likely to alter how the car feels on a UK B-road.
Steps up to 21-inch "5 Y Twin Spoke" alloys and Dinamica microfibre/leather upholstery with diamond stitching, plus the parking system plus with 360 display. It also brings heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, an electrically adjustable driver's seat and seat memory.
The fully loaded everyday trim: opening panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera with top view, park assist pro with remote function, adaptive cruise assist plus and the 10.9-inch front passenger touch display. Also head-up display, matrix LED headlights and lane-keep assist, on 21-inch "5 Arm" wheels.
Above those sit the two performance SQ5 versions, both 362 bhp petrol with a distinctly harder edge.
362 bhp, leather upholstery and 21-inch "5 Y Twin Spoke" alloys, with a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with 3D sound and park assist plus. Massaging and ventilated front seats and self-steering parking are standard here.
The same 362 bhp petrol with the full-house specification: opening panoramic sunroof, 3D 360-degree parking camera, park assist pro with remote function, head-up display and air suspension as standard, on 21-inch "5 Arm" wheels.
