View dealThe Audi A6 Saloon is Audi's executive four-door: a five-seat, five-metre car built for long motorway journeys, company car drivers and anyone who wants a quiet cabin and a conventional boot rather than an SUV. This page covers the Saloon only.
It sits above the compact models in Audi's range and below the bigger luxury cars, squaring up to the traditional German executive rivals. Reviewers consistently describe it as quiet, roomy and beautifully finished, if not the sharpest car in its class to drive.
The choice is simple enough: one body on this page, three powertrains - petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid - and four trims, Sport, S line, Black Edition and Vorsprung.

The A6 Saloon is the sixth-generation car, on sale in this form since 2025. It's a five-seat executive saloon measuring 5.00 m long, with a boot of 354 to 492 litres depending on the version you pick.
Audi has built the A6 badge into one of its best-known nameplates, and this generation leans on refinement rather than drama. Road testers praise the cabin quality, the motorway hush and the amount of rear legroom, while noting that firmer-riding versions on big wheels fidget a little around town and that the touchscreen-led controls take some learning.
Safety is strong: five stars from Euro NCAP, with 87% for adult occupant protection and 88% for child occupant protection. Every A6 Saloon comes with a three-year, 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty.
The Saloon is the sleekest of the three and the one to choose if you rarely carry bulky loads. Its boot runs from 354 to 492 litres with the rear seats up.
The A6 Estate offers 404 to 503 litres seats up and up to 1,534 litres folded, plus braked towing of up to 2,100 kg against the Saloon's up to 2,000 kg. The A6 Hatchback splits the difference at 502 litres, or 1,330 litres folded, with a lower 1.46 m roofline. All three seat five. To see everything side by side, start from the full Audi A6 range.
Because the standard specification is genuinely deep, and leasing puts you in a car like this for a fixed monthly rental over a fixed term. Every A6 Saloon, whatever the trim or engine, gets matrix LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and four-zone climate control.
You also get heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, built-in navigation with a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
On the safety side, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beam, front and rear parking sensors and self-steering parking are fitted across the range. The spare is a tyre repair kit, not a wheel - worth knowing before you order.
Three engines, all automatic: a petrol, a diesel and a plug-in hybrid.
The 2-litre turbo petrol has 201 bhp, a seven-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive, with 0-62 mph in 8.2 seconds and WLTP economy of 37.7-39.8 mpg. It's the simplest choice, and it keeps the biggest boot at 492 litres. Best suited to lower-mileage private drivers.
The 2-litre diesel also makes 201 bhp but pulls harder, with 400 Nm of torque and 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds, and it's all-wheel drive. WLTP economy of 50.4-55.4 mpg and braked towing of 2,000 kg make it the long-distance option. Our team still sees plenty of demand for diesel on cars like this.
The plug-in hybrid pairs a 2-litre turbo with a 25.9 kWh battery (20.7 kWh usable) for 295 bhp, all-wheel drive and 0-62 mph in 6.0 seconds. It charges at up to 11 kW, and the best version takes 2.5 hours from empty to full. Plug it in regularly or you're carrying the weight for nothing - and the boot drops to 354 litres. Four trims, and the jump between them is mostly wheels, glass and cabin theatre rather than core equipment.
Sport is the entry trim and already well equipped: 18-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloy wheels, artificial leather upholstery with contrasting stitching, the 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen with navigation, heated front seats and the drive and park assistance package. A fixed panoramic glass roof and a retractable towbar are available as options.
S line adds privacy glass over Sport, along with front sports seats, sports suspension and 19-inch "5 Arm" alloy wheels. The firmer set-up sharpens body control but road testers note it also makes the ride busier on poor surfaces, so it's worth a test drive if comfort matters most.
Black Edition is about appearance more than kit. It brings 21-inch multi-spoke twist Audi Sport alloys in black metallic, a three-spoke flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel, and leather and artificial leather upholstery, keeping the S line running gear beneath.
Vorsprung is the fully loaded version: 21-inch multi-spoke twist alloys in a gloss turned finish, a fixed panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, head-up display, lane-keep assist, park assist pro with remote functionality and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with 3D sound and headrest speakers.
There's also a Tech Pack you can add to a trim rather than trade up for: it brings the Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system, ambient lighting package plus with dynamic interaction light, and a head-up display. Our guide to choosing your spec is a useful read before you commit, because options can't be changed once a factory order is placed.
