ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE VOLVO C40 RECHARGE

The battery-powered range for the Volvo C40 Recharge car lease is 273 miles from the 150kW battery.

It takes around eight hours to recharge the battery fully at home, while a rapid charger will take 40 minutes to charge the battery to 80% of its capacity

The Twin Pro model features an electric motor on each of its axles to offer all-wheel drive. These motors produce 402 bhp to deliver a 0 to 62 mph time of 4.7 seconds.

Volvo says that the electric motors are maintenance-free and have been sealed for life so should deliver low running costs.

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING FOR THE C40 RECHARGE

Leaving aside the good looks and impressive cabin, the C40 Recharge Twin Pro has light steering to help underpin the car's agility and driving dynamics.

The suspension delivers a composed drive and deals with rough roads effectively and helps create a refined offering on long motorway journeys. The interior is a quality creation packed with refinement and luxury touches.

This SUV doesn't have a starter button - you simply select the 'D' driving mode and lift your foot from the brake - and the car sets off in silence.

There's a nine-inch display for the infotainment system which runs the Android Automotive software. This is an improvement on Android Auto with impressive speech recognition and satnav from the Google apps. Other standard features include LED headlights, a top-end stereo system and a digital instrument cluster. There's no leather upholstery available since this is a fully vegan interior.

Despite the dimensions, the C40 Recharge car lease is very much a practical choice, it's ideal for everyday use with an agile and rewarding drive around town - it's a practical choice for families too. There's plenty of space for those sitting onboard, particularly since this is Volvo's first dedicated EV platform. The boot size is 413 litres and wide enough to deal with bulky items. Drivers also get the 'frunk' under the bonnet which is an extra space for the car's recharging cables and other items.

As should be expected, the C40 Recharge has five-stars from Euro NCAP for crash testing and is packed with lots of safety equipment. These include blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist and cross traffic alert.

There's also autonomous emergency braking that will detect cyclists, pedestrians and other vehicles in its path and brake the car when necessary. For those wanting to lease a well-designed contract hire car with an impressive finish, there's a lot to recommend the Volvo C40 Recharge.
