Leasing a Volkswagen ID.5

The Volkswagen ID.5 offers an electric coupe-SUV and the refinement levels are luxurious. There’s a lot to like about the ID.5 lease range and it is an EV worth shortlisting.

Why choose a Volkswagen ID.5

The Volkswagen ID.5 lease range comes with a 77kWh battery to deliver a range of 313 miles. That’s slightly further than the ID.4 because of the improvement in this car’s aerodynamics.

The motors produce either 172 bhp, so drivers have a 0 to 62 mph sprint time of just over 10 seconds, or 201 bhp and a sprint time of 8.4 seconds.

And there’s improved performance with an additional front axle motor for the GTX to offer all-wheel drive and a combined power output of 295 bhp to deliver a sprint time of 6.3 seconds but the range falls to 296 miles. Its top speed is 112 mph which is around 13 mph faster than its siblings. Using a rapid charger, the ID.5’s battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in under 30 minutes.

What to expect when you lease a Volkswagen ID.5

The Volkswagen ID.5 is more than just a spacious version of the excellent ID.4 - it offers an impressive and spacious creation. The Max model offers premium sports seats, 20-inch alloys, a sports driving package with dynamic chassis control, and an efficient heat pump to help boost the battery’s range.

The range-topping GTX adds red upholstery, GTX branding, faux-leather door panels and a glossy finish to the roof frame. This model also features a unique spec for the interior so it’s very different from other models. The ID.5 also comes with the latest infotainment system from VW with fast response times, while the cabin is very similar to the ID.4.

The boot size is 549 litres which should meet most needs and there are split-folding rear seats with the options list offering a towbar and an electrically opening tailgate.

Behind the wheel, the steering gives good feedback and it’s a smooth motorway cruiser and an agile offering around town. The GTX has upgraded brakes and a lower suspension so performs better on corners, and there’s the option for adaptive dampers to deliver a more refined drive at speed.

The ID.5 scored top marks for safety when crash-tested by Euro NCAP and safety equipment includes a city emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist and driver fatigue monitoring.

Essentially, the Volkswagen ID.5 is an interesting and well-designed offering in an increasingly competitive segment but this is a stylish EV worth leasing for the space and refinement levels.
