Excellent small SUV with low running costs
The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross is a small SUV with a great offering and low running costs. It's an all-round great value vehicle with a lot to offer.
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE SUZUKI SX4 S CROSS
The entry level model features a 1.0 litre Boosterjet engine that should return 57 mpg and, despite the vehicle’s size, it's a sound performer around town. There's also an excellent 1.4 litre petrol unit and a 1.6 litre diesel engine that delivers low running costs. The engines are coupled to either a manual gearbox or the firm’s CVT offering. There's also an excellent all-wheel drive option, called Allgrip. The 1.4 litre petrol unit should return around 50 mpg while the diesel units returned 67 mpg.
EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING
For anyone looking for a spacious 4x4 that performs well around town and off-road, then the Suzuki SX4 S Cross deserves a closer look. Even the entry-level model comes with cruise control, multifunction steering wheel, air con and alloy wheels.
There's also plenty of equipment including Bluetooth connectivity, 16inch alloy wheels and DAB radio. Some models also come with rear parking camera, adaptive cruise control and keyless entry start. The infotainment system is easy-to-use and some models also come with satnav. Safety equipment includes air bags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring, speed limiting limiter and emergency braking assist.
Out on the road, the SX4 S is a surprisingly comfortable car to drive with the elevated driving position offering good visibility and there's plenty of space for all occupants. It's also a bright cabin with a useful boot that measures 430 litres. As a crossover, the Suzuki offering is better than many of its rivals, particularly on bends at speed with the steering delivery good feedback and the all-grip system delivering good performance when taken off-road.
Essentially, the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross offers drivers a compact SUV that delivers excellent levels of handling, lots of comfort and great value for money. It's an economical crossover to run and opt for the four wheel drive version for an impressive amount of grip.
