Overview of the Subaru Solterra

The Subaru Solterra has been developed to meet the needs of those who want to travel on rough roads, or even off-road, with the carmaker offering torque that can be distributed between the rear and front axles, so the best grip is offered.

Why choose a Subaru Solterra?

The Subaru Solterra car lease model has been developed in conjunction with Toyota so there are similarities to the bZ4X including the choice of two powertrains.

Drivers get a 71.4kWh battery pack and the entry level model gets a single-motor system developing 201 bhp with torque of 336Nm. It will deliver a range of 289 miles. The Touring model offers permanent all-wheel drive and has a combined power output of 215 bhp with a range of 257 miles.

The battery-powered car’s top speed is 100 mph, but it will sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 6.9 seconds. The battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity using a fast charger in just 19 minutes.

Subaru Solterra in a nutshell

Thanks to the flat battery unit delivering a low centre of gravity, the Solterra offers a stable and composed ride makes travelling off-road more comfortable. It’s also worth noting that the raised ride height will allow this EV to be taken places where traditional electric vehicles cannot go.

What to expect when you lease a Subaru Solterra

The new offering also comes with lots of equipment with the entry level Limited version having 18-inch alloys, heated rear and front seats, a digital rear-view mirror and adaptive cruise control.

There’s also a 360° camera system to protect the occupants and there’s the X-Mode setting for offering better grip on slippery surfaces. This is also a very safe car with the firm’s Safety Sense package that includes safe exit assist, pre-collision braking and reverse automatic braking.

The Touring Solterra has 20-inch alloys, a panoramic roof, wireless phone charging and synthetic leather seats. There’s also a Harman Kardon sound system fitted. Drivers also get a reversing camera, which will prove useful in car parks, smart keyless entry, a climate control system and the options include a towing pack and roof rails.

The new vehicle has the same dimensions as the current Forester with the production model retaining some of the bold styling from its conception design. These include the sharp headlights and black wheel arch extensions. The interior is well-designed and is a comfortable place to spend time, with the infotainment system fitted to the centre of the console and the boot size is 452 litres.

Since this is the firm’s first purpose-built electric vehicle, Subaru has incorporated its off-road experience to offer a vehicle that many customers will love. Indeed, the carmaker says that most of the drivers wanting to lease the Solterra will opt for the dual motor variant.

Handling is very similar to the Forrester and there’s no doubt that this is a Subaru. Drivers get a single pedal driving mode to help boost regenerative braking and there’s very little need to use the brake pedal until needing to stop completely. The 7.0-inch instrument binnacle is easy-to-use, as is the 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The cabin has a light feel, and it looks spacious with the panoramic sunroof.

Essentially, the Subaru Solterra is a great creation for anyone wanting an all-electric off-roader and this is a solid, and well-built SUV that will meet a wide range of needs. It’s just as comfortable to drive around town as it is along a rutted path. This is an EV car lease choice that needs to be driven if you need a vehicle for a variety of terrain and weather conditions.
