Under the bonnet, there's a powerful 2.2 litre diesel unit producing 178PS with the choice of a six-speed manual box or a seven-speed automatic transmission, sourced from Mercedes. There's also selectable 4x4 in the top spec version with good performance at low revs and the potential of a 2.7 tonne towing capability. Otherwise the Turismo has rear wheel drive and has a top speed of 116 mph with economy of around 46mpg.

There's no doubt that the Ssangyong Turismo is an impressive MPV with space for seven adults plus their luggage and there are very few rival vehicles like this. In 2018, SsangYong relaunched their Turismo with improved exterior looks and LED daytime running lights. The equipment list includes cruise control, alloy wheels, parking sensors, heated front seats and roof rails. There is also automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers. The revamp also saw the introduction of an entertainment system with smartphone connectivity and a rear view camera. The Ssangyong Turismo is bigger than normal-sized MPVs or people carriers with three rows of seats. The boot is a useful 875 litres and with the rear seats folded flat, this extends to an impressive 3,146 litres. Around town, the car is easy to drive and it's also a smooth performer on motorways at speed. However, for those who need to carry people and also tow a caravan or a horsebox, for example, then the towing capacity really does put this car into a different class. Essentially, the Ssangyong Turismo delivers a comfortable ride and there's a lot to like about what is a spacious vehicle that is a decent all-round offering for those who want a sizeable MPV with towing capabilities with lots of comfort and equipment.
