The Skoda Kamiq has a range of petrol and diesel engines available with the 1.0 litre petrol unit producing either 94 bhp or 113 bhp to deliver a responsive drive and will return 45mpg. A 1.6 litre diesel unit producing 113bhp offers economy of 57mpg and there's a frugal 1.5 litre petrol engine that utilises cylinder-on-demand technology available too. The engines are mated to either a manual or automatic gearbox.

The interior is comfortable for families and adults with Skoda's clever design features such as an ice scraper in the fuel filler cap and the front door has an umbrella. The boot measures an impressive 400 litres so it's capable of carrying lots of luggage and shopping. Essentially, the Skoda Kamiq offers a practical and interesting choice in a competitive segment and while it is cheap to run, it's also a safe car packed with technology and using quality materials throughout. It is certainly a small SUV worth shortlisting.
