View dealThe Porsche Panamera is Porsche's large five-door hatchback: a luxury car sized for long journeys that still steers and stops like something from a sports car maker. It sits at the top of Porsche's road car range, above the SUVs, as the brand's luxury flagship.
At roughly 5.05 metres long, with four or five seats and a boot of 421 to 494 litres depending on version, it suits drivers who want space for adults and luggage without moving into an SUV. Reviewers consistently describe it as a genuinely rewarding car to drive that is also calm enough to cross a continent in.
The choice is simpler than it looks. One body style, two powertrains - petrol or plug-in hybrid - and six versions: the Panamera entry model, 4, 4S and Turbo, plus the performance GTS and Turbo S.

The Panamera is a low-slung luxury five-door that trades an SUV's height for a hatchback tailgate and a driving position closer to the road. This is the third-generation car, on sale in this form since 2023.
Road testers consistently praise two things: the way it controls its weight through corners, and the ride quality from the air suspension fitted to every version. The common criticisms are equally consistent - the boot is modest for the car's footprint, and gloss black cabin trim marks easily.
Practical details matter on a car this size. There are four or five seats depending on how it is specified, the boot runs from 421 to 494 litres with the rear seats up, and Porsche covers it with a three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.
Because the Panamera arrives well equipped before you touch the options list, and leasing lets you drive it on a fixed monthly rental for a set term rather than tying up capital in a car that will depreciate.
Every version gets adaptive cruise control, matrix LED headlights, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, electric seat memory, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and air suspension. Driver assistance is thorough too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, active lane-change assist, traffic sign recognition, and front and rear parking sensors.
Practically, you get a hatchback tailgate rather than a saloon bootlid, up to 1,328 litres with the rear seats folded, and braked towing of up to 2,200 kg. Servicing falls every 24 months or 20,000 miles.
Two choices: petrol, or a plug-in hybrid you charge from a socket. Both use an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and both are quick.
Petrol Panameras run from 348 to 493 bhp, with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on version, and 0-62 mph in 3.8 to 5.3 seconds. No charging, no cable, no plug-in routine - fuel it and go. WLTP economy is 24.1 to 29.2 mpg.
The plug-in hybrid pairs a 25.9 kWh battery (21.8 kWh usable) with a petrol engine for 464 to 771 bhp, all-wheel drive and 0-62 mph in as little as 2.9 seconds. It charges at up to 11 kW, with the best version taking two hours from 0-100%. Worth it if you can charge regularly; less so if you can't.

Four everyday versions - Panamera entry model, 4, 4S and Turbo - then two performance cars. Here's what separates them.
The rear-wheel-drive starting point, with 348 bhp, 19-inch "Panamera" alloy wheels and cloth and leather upholstery. Standard kit covers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather door panels and central armrests and adaptive cruise control, with self-steering park assist, a head-up display and a panoramic roof among the options.
This version doesn't always appear in the live list, so availability comes and goes - ask our team what we can source.
The 4 uses the same 348 bhp petrol engine, the same 19-inch "Panamera" wheels and the same cloth and leather trim as the entry car, with all-wheel drive instead of rear-wheel drive. No extra equipment comes with it; this one is about traction and badge, not kit.
The 4 is currently available from £1,104.23 a month.
The 4S is where the plug-in hybrid range starts, at 537 bhp with all-wheel drive. Over the entry car it adds launch control, 20-inch "Panamera Aerodesign" alloys and leather upholstery, with heated rear seats and four-zone climate control on the options list.
The 4S is currently available from £1,142.57 a month.
A 671 bhp plug-in hybrid. Over the 4S it adds a head-up display, plus heated rear seats and sports seats, riding on 20-inch "Panamera Turbo" wheels with part leather upholstery. Four-wheel steering is available here as an option.
The Turbo is currently available from £2,406.58 a month. Against the 4S, that is currently £1,264.01/mo more expensive.
Then come the two performance Panameras, which change the character of the car rather than just its equipment list.
The GTS is the driver's choice: 493 bhp of petrol power, all-wheel drive, and over the 4 it gains sports suspension, launch control and sports seats on 21-inch "Panamera Turbo S" alloys. Several testers name it their pick of the range for feel rather than outright speed.
The GTS is currently available from £1,550.47 a month. Against the 4, that is currently £446.24/mo more expensive.
The fastest of the lot: a 771 bhp plug-in hybrid with up to 1,000 Nm, 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds and a 202 mph top speed. Over the Turbo it makes four-wheel steering standard, which helps a 5.05-metre car feel smaller in town.
The Turbo S is currently available from £2,886.61 a month. Against the Turbo, that is currently £480.04/mo more expensive.
