Overview of the Peugeot Rifter

Engines and performance for the Peugeot Rifter

The Peugeot Rifter comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engines with the 1.5 litre BlueHDi diesel unit offering the best performance and economy. The alternative is to choose a 1.0 litre or 1.4 litre PureTech petrol engine that delivers a more sprightly performance when driving around town. The engine is mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or the option of a smooth changing eight-speed automatic transmission.

Equipment and handling

The Peugeot Rifter is an excellent offering in the MPV sector for those who like to go adventuring with family members or want to carry lots of kit or luggage. There are three trim levels with basic equipment including speed limit recognition, lane keeping assist and active safety brake. There's also air conditioning, aluminium roof bars, Bluetooth connectivity and a DAB radio. Other models come with a rear parking sensors, an 8-inch colour touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, alloy wheels and an electric parking brake. The top model is the GT Line which features more connected services and better levels of comfort. Owners also get to enjoy a nice panoramic glass roof with an electric blind, 3-D satnav, automatic dual-zone climate control and power folding mirrors. Behind the wheel, the Peugeot Rifter is a comfortable vehicle to drive; it's well planted and has good steering feedback. Around town, it's an agile car and on long motorway journeys it is a smooth performer. For those who really do want to go adventuring with their Peugeot Rifter then the firm's excellent Advanced Grip Control is highly recommended. The system works to control wheel spin and combines with hill assist descent control to boost traction over slippery surfaces. It's surprisingly effective and is a better performer than many other vehicle manufacturer's supposed 4x4 offerings. The interior has been well designed and fitted with hard wearing materials so makes it a great choice as a family car. The most attractive feature is the fact that there is so much space on board and there's a choice of either a five- or seven-seater model. The seven seat offering really is comfortable for seven adults. Essentially, the Peugeot Rifter has a lot to offer for those needing an MPV or a leisure activity vehicle that combines space, practicality, nice handling plus low running costs in a hard to beat offering.
