Overview of the Nissan GT-R

Engines and performance for the Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R features a handcrafted twin-turbocharged 3.8 litre V-6 engine to deliver a unique and powerful driving experience. The engine produces 570 PS with impressive torque of 637Nm. Opt for the GT-R Nismo and you will enjoy a car derived from decades of racing experience with the engine being tweaked to deliver 600 PS and 652Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed dual clutch transmission. Fuel economy for the GT-0R is around 22 mpg - though it does have an impressive 0-62 mph sprint time of less than three seconds.

Equipment and handling

The big attraction for the Nissan GT-R is that it can take on more expensive supercars when it comes to handling and performance. A refresh for 2020 saw a new turbocharger being introduced to boost responsiveness and performance, particularly at lower revs. There is still the exhaust growl when the car is put through its paces and the grip, unsurprisingly, is very good with a fine-tuned suspension delivering superb cornering. It's also a smooth ride with lots of tech onboard to boost confidence and keep the car on the road. As should be expected, the steering is precise and there's good feedback so the driver knows what the front wheels are doing. There's also an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with satnav, smartphone connectivity and a DAB digital radio. Nissan has also added a rotary control in the console so the infotainment system can be used without having to fiddle with the screen. The leather interior is impressive and available in a range of colours and the cabin is driver-focused with everything important within reach. The Recaro sport seats deliver a cosseting design and along with the acoustic glass windscreen, the Nissan GT-R is a surprisingly quiet cabin when the car is being driven at speed. Nissan is also at pains to point out that the GT-R has been created to deliver an excellent vehicle in the hands of any driver's talent and regardless of the weather when this supercar is taken out onto a racetrack. Essentially, Nissan GT-R is a sound proposition for those who want an excellent supercar capable of impressive levels of performance but is also capable of enjoyable and practical day-to-day use as well.
