There's just one engine choice for the MG MG3 and it is a 1.5 litre petrol engine. It is responsive enough in most conditions and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Fuel economy is around 48 mpg.
Equipment and handling
Behind the wheel, the MG MG3 is surprisingly nimble and agile with great body control when being driven around town. The steering offers good feedback and the engine is responsive and good at motorway cruising too. A revamp in 2018 saw the cabin being overhauled and it's a comfortable place to spend time with soft touch materials and some nice design ideas. There's an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system on all but the entry level model which offers smartphone connectivity and crisp graphics. The surprising thing is that despite the exterior dimensions, it's a roomy city car for meeting the needs of those who need a small car. There's also, to bring peace of mind motoring, a seven-year warranty to underpin the build quality and safety features include emergency brake assist and stability control. Other standard features include tyre pressure monitoring and hill hold control which helps to make it an attractive proposition, particularly for younger drivers wanting a small car to commute in. Essentially, the MG MG3 has a lot to offer for those who want a well-made city car with lots of equipment and lots of space.
