Overview of the Lexus RX

ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE LEXUS RX

The contract hire Lexus RX is only available as a petrol-hybrid - there's no diesel choice. The new offering is faster than the previous version with the RX 450h engine producing 308 bhp.

The 3.5-litre V6 unit is mated to a CVT automatic transmission that helps the car sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds. The heavier seven-seat RX L will do the same sprint time slightly slower.

Despite the size, drivers should enjoy economy of around 40 mpg, though the RX L is a tad heavier, so the economy is around 34 mpg.

The Lexus RX is potentially attractive to company car drivers with the Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) rate being 37% with emission figures of 180g/km.

The RX is also capable of driving in all-electric mode for short bursts.

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING FOR THE LEXUS RX

With a 3.5 litre V6 engine under the bonnet, the Lexus RX 450h lease delivers plenty of enjoyment behind the steering wheel. The suspension and steering have been tweaked in this latest version to boost the handling, particularly when cornering, and the steering gives good feedback.

Whether on winding country roads or long motorway journeys, this is a refined and quiet SUV and the smooth operation makes the cabin a comfortable place to spend time.

Four-wheel drive comes as standard which delivers more grip and confidence when weather conditions are poor, or when driving on slippery surfaces.

The exterior design is stylish, but the interior really impresses and it's a well-built offering with a smart wood finish to the dashboard.

Drivers get a 12.3-inch display for the satnav and the infotainment system is smartphone compatible.

There's also an excellent head-up display that is projected in front of the bonnet to make reading the car's speed, cruise control settings and satnav directions easy.
Standard equipment includes heated front seats, climate control, all-round parking sensors and LED headlights.

Drivers also get to enjoy 20-inch alloy wheels and a 12-speaker stereo system.

Other models to lease feature black wing mirrors, heated and ventilated seats, an adjustable suspension system and rear door sunshades.

The range-topper is the Tukami which adds a 15-speaker top-end surround sound stereo system, a 10-inch head-up display, blind spot monitoring, a sunroof and 360° camera monitoring. This model is also more of a traditional Lexus creation with a heated leather and wooden steering wheel and plenty of wooden trim.

There are a range of options to including ‘captain’ seats in the top trim and drivers can also opt for a powered tailgate, leather upholstery, cross traffic alert and sport trims.

This is also a very safe SUV, as all Lexus cars are, with lots of safety kit including adaptive cruise control, a tiredness alert system, lane keeping assist and there's a pre-crash safety system that will prepare the car and occupants if it detects pedestrians or cars in the path of the RX.
