Engines and performance for the Jaguar XE
To help deliver the impressive levels of performance, the Jaguar XE uses efficient and clean diesel and petrol engines. There's a 2.0 litre petrol unit available producing either 250 PS or 300 PS and the diesel unit delivers 180 PS with torque of 430 Nm and its fuel economy is around 58 mpg. The engines are mated to an automatic transmission which is fitted as standard in both rear and all-wheel drive options. The more powerful petrol engine in the all-wheel drive XE will sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds.
Equipment and handling
As a Jaguar, the XE delivers impressive levels of performance with the car gripping the road extremely well. The XE uses advanced torque on demand for the all-wheel drive system and there is also intelligent driving dynamics onboard for the rear-wheel drive models delivering the agility and traction to deliver confidence whatever the weather conditions. One of the reasons why the car is so agile is that 75% of the body is made up with aluminium plus there's an excellent integral link rear suspension in place to underpin the performance. There’s a range of Packs available to improve either the technology so drivers can access a solar windscreen and head-up display, wireless charging or the convenience pack which offers keyless entry, extra power sockets and gesture boot lid opening. There's also a premium offering that installs ambient lighting, bright petals and illuminated treadplates. The infotainment system is one of the best available using a high-resolution touchscreen and there are new LED headlights installed. Essentially, the Jaguar XE pays homage to its excellent heritage and delivers an impressive balance between handling and ride and the technology levels also impress.
