ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE DACIA JOGGER
There’s just one three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine available for the Dacia Jogger car lease range, which will meet most drivers’ needs. It has an output of 108 bhp, and even with a full load onboard, it’s a good performer.
Dacia says a Bi-Fuel alternative is in the pipeline and will run on either LPG or petrol - the LPG should offer meagre running costs.
There’s also a plan for a petrol-electric hybrid utilising a 1.6-litre engine producing 138 bhp. This hybrid will not plug in but will use brake regeneration to top the battery up, so the vehicle always starts in electric mode. It will also have just one pedal like other battery-powered rivals.
Drivers should expect fuel economy for the Jogger of around 50 mpg - that’s as good as hatchback rivals - though it is slightly less when all seven seats are occupied.
When the LPG version becomes available, it will return around 37 mpg. Still, the fuel is much cheaper, giving the bi-fuel model even more potential to be a more affordable family car.
For the hybrid version, Dacia says that 64 mpg will be possible, and 80% of all journeys in town can be done using battery power.
EQUIPMENT LEVELS AND DRIVING THE DACIA JOGGER
Something to appreciate is that while the Dacia Jogger represents terrific value and is probably one of the cheapest seven-seaters available, it is also surprisingly refined.
You can see it’s spacious and practical, with a comfortable cabin offering a nice ride. It’s also easy to manoeuvre, particularly when parking.
The rear of the Jogger offers plenty of legroom, and it’s worth noting that the third row of seats can be removed when not used. The rearmost seats are large enough for adults – unlike rival MPVs that have small seats for (very) occasional use.
There’s also plenty of room for the driver and front seat passenger with a good view from the driver’s seat with the Joggers raised ride height.
And, despite the price tag, the interior does not look cheap, though the entry-level version, the Essential, doesn’t have a touchscreen. The models with a display are smartphone compatible, so drivers can access satnav and other mobile apps and services.
There’s also a long equipment list with the entry-level model featuring air-conditioning, rear parking sensors, cruise control, automatic LED headlights and front fog lights.
We also like the addition of body-coloured bumpers, additional side mouldings and tinted windows, so it doesn’t look like a bargain basement offering.
Other models add a reversing camera, front parking sensors, automatic wipers and climate control. There’s also a limited-edition version with satnav, heated front seats, black trim and wheels.
The options list is concise - there’s just the choice of a spare wheel. Metallic paint is also an optional extra.
Around town, there’s good feedback from the steering, and the engine performs well on long motorway journeys.
There’s a lot to recommend about the Dacia Jogger car lease model, which offers space, a decent equipment list and comfort – and a hard-to-beat price tag for those seven seats.
