Overview of the Citroen C3

Engines and performance for the Citroen C3

The Citroen C3 comes with the carmaker's latest generation of engines offering economy and efficiency. There's a choice of the three-cylinder PureTech 83 or 110 petrol units. There's also a BlueHDi diesel engine. The engines are mated to either five-speed or six-speed manual gearboxes along with the option of a smooth changing automatic gearbox.

Equipment and handling

Relaunched in 2020, the Citroen C3 is the firm's bestselling car and the new offering delivers a lot to potential owners. Since it is competing in a competitive segment, the styling has been made bolder and the comfort levels improved to help it stand out from the crowd. The level of customisation has also been boosted and there are 97 exterior combinations alone for owners to choose from including four roof colours and four colour packs. Citroen has also added their airbumper to some models and they have fitted 11 driving aids to help make everyday driving easier, including connected services for helping should the car be involved in an accident. The C3 also features satnav and smartphone connectivity. Citroen says that its latest C3 will appeal to younger buyers, particularly those who are 'creative and optimistic', and it's also a strong choice for business and fleet customers. The cabin is a spacious well-designed place to spend time with soft touch materials and an elegant dashboard to enjoy. The seats are also new and more comfortable than the previous offering with more space for those sitting in the rear seats. The driving aids include active safety brake, front parking assist and a 'coffee break alert', so if you have been driving non-stop for more than two hours at more than 40 mph, the car will tell you to take a break. There's also intelligent beam headlights, hill start assist, a reversing camera and lane departure warning. The C3 also features speed limit recognition and cruise control. That's an impressive offering in a competitive segment and the car is nice to drive with precise steering and little in the way of body roll on winding country roads. It's also a great car for driving around town and it is a decent motorway cruiser. The engines are responsive and it's an agile offering with a particularly tight turning circle that many owners will find useful. Along with the levels of personalisation, the Citroen C3 can be tailor-made to be the car that you really want to enjoy and it's a practical choice, particularly for families, with lots of comfort and technology fitted - particularly safety kit.
