The Citroën AMI is a two-seat, 2.41-metre electric coupe designed for short urban journeys, with a 6.3 kWh battery and up to 47 miles of WLTP range. This page explains who it suits and how the Ami and My Ami Peps versions differ.
The Citroën AMI is a two-seat electric coupe measuring just 2.41 metres from nose to tail, designed for short journeys in towns and cities rather than anything resembling a motorway run. It is the smallest, simplest thing Citroën sells.
It suits a very particular driver: someone doing a few miles at a time in an urban area, who wants weather protection, a roof and a seatbelt rather than two wheels, and who parks where a normal car struggles. It is rarely anybody's only vehicle.
The choice is refreshingly short. One body, one electric powertrain of 8 bhp with a WLTP range of up to 47 miles, and two versions: Ami and My Ami Peps.

Its top speed is 28 mph, which rules out motorways and makes fast A-roads uncomfortable.
Reviewers are consistent on two points: it is not a car in any traditional sense, and people love it anyway. Road testers praise the turning circle, the visibility from the upright seating position and the sheer ease of parking, while criticising the firm ride and basic seats.
Underneath the charm are real numbers. Two seats, 63 litres of boot space behind them, a kerb weight of 483 kg and a three-year or 60,000-mile manufacturer warranty. Citroën also covers the battery for eight years or 100,000 miles, guaranteeing 70% of its capacity.
Leasing suits the AMI because it is a vehicle you take for a phase of life rather than a decade. Every version gets an opening panoramic roof, a digital instrument cluster and LED headlights, so the specification decision is small and the contract decision matters more.
Practicality is honest rather than generous: two seats, 63 litres of luggage space, 1.39 m across and 1.53 m tall. Servicing falls due every 24 months or 12,500 miles, which is a light maintenance load for an urban runabout.
There is only one, and it is electric.
A 6.3 kWh battery (5.4 kWh usable) feeds an 8 bhp front-wheel-drive motor, with WLTP range up to 47 miles and a 28 mph top speed. It's automatic, so there's no clutch or gearchange. A full charge takes about four hours and there's no rapid charging, so home or workplace charging is close to essential. Our guide to charging an electric car covers the basics.
| Electric | |
|---|---|
| Boot | 63 litres |
| Power | 8 bhp |
| Seats | 2 |
| Battery | 6.3 kWh |
| Electric range (WLTP) | 46.6–47 miles |
Both versions share the same mechanical package, 14-inch steel wheels and cloth upholstery, so the decision is about how you want it to look.
The Ami is the standard version and it already has the things people notice: LED headlights with LED rear lights, and the panoramic sunroof that makes the tiny cabin feel far less boxed in. Steel 14-inch wheels and cloth trim throughout.
The Ami is currently available from £125.09 a month.
My Ami Peps is an appearance edition of the Ami. Mechanically and on equipment it matches the standard version, so choose it purely because you prefer the way it looks - there are two paint choices across the range, Ami grey and Night sepia.
My Ami Peps is currently available from £146.36 a month. Against the Ami, that is currently £21.28/mo more expensive.
