Engines and performance for the BMW X2
When it was launched, the BMW X2 was available with a 2.0 litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine that produces 190 hp and useful torque of 400 Nm. The fuel economy is around 62 mpg with emissions of 121g/km. The engine's top speed is 137 mph and will reach from 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds. The engine choice has been widened since and if you opt for the BMW X2 M Performance, there's a powerful 2.0 litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine available producing 306 hp and torque of 450M. It's sprint time is 4.9 seconds.
Equipment and handling
Out on the road, the BMW X2 offers impeccable road manners with responsive engines, tight grip and cornering at speed. It's a nice car to drive around town and it eats motorway miles to deliver occupants at their destination without feeling tired. There's a lot of equipment including a 6.5-inch touchscreen with satnav which is easy and quick to access for the vehicle's important information. There's also smartphone connectivity and the option of the firm's full-colour head-up display and a technology pack that will display the satnav information onto the windscreen in high resolution. Another option is for a Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless charging and there's a lot of driver assistance systems on board. The camera-based systems help keep the car and its occupants safe and features speed limit info, lane departure warning and anti-dazzle high beam assistant. There's also a collision warning system which features pedestrian and obstacle detection and city braking function. The interior has been well-designed and is made with quality materials so has a plush feel, and it's a nice place to spend time. Essentially, the BMW X2 is a polished offering and it's a small SUV that delivers a fun and enjoyable drive - but it's also one that stands out from an increasingly competitive marketplace, with space and equipment to make it a sound choice.
