View dealThe BMW i3 is an all-electric four-door saloon that sits at the heart of BMW's range: five seats, 420 litres of boot space and a 108 kWh battery good for up to 563.6 miles between charges on the official WLTP test. It's the electric interpretation of the classic compact executive saloon, and it aims squarely at company drivers and long-distance private buyers who want an EV that still drives like a BMW.
The current i3 is the second generation of the nameplate, on sale in this form since 2026, and the choice is refreshingly simple. One body, one powertrain, one trim: a 463 bhp all-wheel-drive electric saloon in M Sport First Edition specification.

The i3 is a five-seat electric saloon with 463 bhp, all-wheel drive and a WLTP range of up to 563.6 miles.
Reviewers who have driven the platform consistently praise two things: how light and faithful the steering and body control feel despite the weight, and how efficient the drivetrain is. Charging is the other headline, with 400 kW capability on the fastest version taking the battery from 0-80% in 21 minutes.
Inside, the dashboard is minimalist and screen-led, with a display projected across the base of the windscreen. Road testers note that there's a lot of information presented at once, and that the squared-off steering wheel divides opinion. The high-voltage battery is covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles.
Because the standard specification is genuinely complete. Every i3 gets LED headlights, a head-up display, three-zone climate control, heated and massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, a powered tailgate and wireless phone charging.
Safety and assistance kit is standard across the range too: autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and self-steering parking. Privacy glass, ambient lighting, power-folding mirrors and DAB radio are all included.

There's only one: a fully electric, all-wheel-drive automatic setup. No petrol, no diesel, no hybrid, so the decision is simply whether charging works for your life.
The 108 kWh battery gives a WLTP range of up to 563.6 miles and an efficiency figure of 4.6 miles per kWh, with 0-62 mph in 4.7 seconds. It's automatic and all-wheel drive. Home charging takes 11 hours at 11 kW on the best version; rapid charging runs to 400 kW.

There's one trim in the range, M Sport First Edition, so the choice is really about colour and options rather than specification level. It's the 463 bhp all-wheel-drive version.
It rides on 19-inch Polygon Style 1061m alloy wheels with Alcantara upholstery, and includes LED headlights, a rear-view camera with panoramic view, a heated steering wheel, a Harman Kardon HiFi loudspeaker system and a wireless charging tray plus. Options include a 360-degree camera, a fixed panoramic glass roof, heated rear seats, automatic parking assist and a fixed towbar.
The M Sport First Edition is currently available from £767.92 a month.
Five paint colours are offered across the range: Alpine white, Black sapphire, Eucalyptus green, M le castellet blue and Space silver. Worth choosing carefully, since paint is one of the few decisions you can't change later.
