View dealThe Audi A6 Hatchback is a full-size executive car that's electric only, with a rear tailgate instead of a conventional boot lid. It sits above the A4-sized cars in Audi's line-up and below the flagship e-tron GT, aimed squarely at drivers covering serious motorway mileage.
Everything here runs on battery power: 282-496 bhp, rear- or all-wheel drive, automatic, with up to 441 miles of WLTP range from the best version. Four everyday trims (Sport, S Line, Black Edition, Vorsprung) are joined by two S6 performance versions.
It's a 5-seater with a 502-litre boot, 4.93 m long, rated to tow up to 2,100 kg braked, and it holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. The choice comes down to how much power you want and how much standard kit.

This is the seventh-generation A6, on sale in this form since 2025, and the Hatchback is the sleek five-door shape rather than the estate. Reviewers consistently praise its refinement, its aerodynamic efficiency and its long real-world range.
The tailgate is the practical trump card over a saloon: 502 litres with the rear seats up, 1,330 litres folded, through a wide opening. Efficiency runs from 3.8 to 4.5 miles per kWh depending on version, which is why the best version manages 441 miles.
Road testers are less enthusiastic about rear headroom and the sheer volume of gloss-black trim inside. Audi covers it with a 3-year / 60,000-mile warranty, plus 8 years or 100,000 miles on the battery, guaranteeing 75% of capacity.
Take the Hatchback if you want the biggest seats-up boot with the easiest access. Its 502 litres is close to the A6 Estate's 404-503 litres and beats the A6 Saloon's 354-492 litres on paper.
The Estate wins once seats are folded, at 1,422-1,534 litres against the Hatchback's 1,330, and it's the one to look at for bulky, tall loads. The Saloon has a traditional boot lid and, like the Estate, reaches 5.00 m in length.
All three seat five and tow 750 kg unbraked. Braked towing reaches 2,100 kg on the Hatchback and Estate, 2,000 kg on the Saloon. The full A6 range is worth a look if you're undecided.
Because the standard specification is unusually complete for a car in this class, and leasing lets you run one on a fixed monthly cost without worrying about what a big electric executive car is worth in three years' time.
Every version gets adaptive cruise control, heated front seats with electric adjustment and memory, a digital instrument cluster, built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air conditioning and a heat pump - genuinely useful for winter range. Self-steering parking, front and rear sensors, a rear-view camera and rear cross-traffic alert are all included.
Safety kit runs to autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam. Euro NCAP awarded 5 stars, with 92% for adult occupant protection and 91% for child occupants. A fixed towbar is standard across the range.
There's one: electric. No petrol, no diesel, no hybrid.
Battery capacity is 83.0-100.0 kWh (75.8-94.9 kWh usable), power 282-496 bhp, and drive goes to the rear wheels or all four. WLTP range is 380-441 miles, 0-62 mph takes 4.1-7.0 seconds, and it's automatic. You'll need somewhere reliable to charge.
Charging peaks at 225-270 kW depending on version; the best version does 10-80% in 21 minutes at 270 kW, or a full charge in eight hours on an 11 kW home wallbox. Our guide to charging an electric car covers the practicalities.

Six versions, and the jump that matters most is Black Edition to Vorsprung.
The entry version has 282 bhp and rear-wheel drive, on 20-inch "5 Twin Spoke" alloys with leather and artificial leather upholstery. LED headlights plus, the 14.5-inch OLED MMI navigation plus touchscreen, heated front seats, a reversing camera, three-zone climate and automatic parking assist are all included. A fixed panoramic glass roof and a retractable towbar are options.
S Line brings the sportier look and feel: privacy glass, a three-spoke flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel, paddle shifters and front sports seats. Wheels change to 20-inch "10 Spoke" alloys and the upholstery is leather. Same panoramic roof and retractable towbar options as Sport.
Black Edition is about appearance rather than extra equipment, with 21-inch "5 Arm Dynamic" alloys over S Line. Leather and artificial leather upholstery, and the fixed panoramic glass roof and retractable towbar remain available as options.
The big step. Entry power rises to 362 bhp with all-wheel drive, and standard kit includes the fixed panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency, surround view cameras, adaptive cruise assist plus, the ambient lighting pack plus, a 10.9-inch passenger touch display, head-up display, matrix LED headlights, heated rear seats and lane-keep assist. Air suspension is optional.
Then there are the performance S6 versions, both with 496 bhp.
496 bhp, all-wheel drive, 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds for the quickest version. Ventilated and massaging front seats, a Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound System, air suspension and sports suspension are standard, on 21-inch "5 Arm Dynamic" alloys with leather upholstery. Quick, but reviewers call it effortless rather than playful.
The same 496 bhp with the fixed panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency, a 3D 360-degree surround camera and park assist pro with remote functionality added. Deals on the top versions come and go, so ask our team if you don't see one listed.
A Tech Pack is offered as an add-on, bringing a twin spoke leather steering wheel with multifunction controls and shift paddles.
The obvious alternative is the BMW i5, which covers much the same executive-EV ground with a saloon boot rather than a tailgate. It's also worth browsing the wider Audi leasing range before you commit.
