Overview of the Volkswagen Multivan

The Volkswagen Multivan is an impressive MPV that is packed with technology. It’s also a stylish creation that is great to drive, with lots of space onboard.

Why choose a Volksagen Multivan

The engine choices for the Volkswagen Multivan car lease include a 2.0-litre diesel unit producing 148 bhp and it’s a good performer – the better choice for those who will be racking up lots of miles. It will return around 40 mpg.

There’s also a 1.5-litre petrol unit producing 134 bhp with economy of 35 mpg. For those who want more power, there’s a 2.0-litre alternative that is more responsive but has fuel economy of 31 mpg. The power for the combustion engines is delivered using an automatic transmission which offers a comfortable level of performance.

And while there’s no electric version of the VW Multivan, strangely, there is a very effective plug-in hybrid. This consists of a 1.4-litre petrol TSI engine, a 10kWh battery and electric motor. It produces 215 bhp and offers gentle and smooth acceleration. The hybrid offers an all-electric range of 30 miles.

Charging for the battery takes around 3.5 hours using a standard wall box. The battery will need to be regularly charged for drivers to enjoy better fuel economy when they use battery power alone.

Volkswagen Multivan in a nutshell

Leasing a Volkswagen Multivan is an easy process with it not only being a vehicle with modern styling - it’s an upgrade that will please anyone wanting a spacious MPV that handles well.

What to expect when you lease a Volkswagen Multivan

The Volkswagen Multivan car lease range is the stylish and well-designed replacement for the VW Caravelle which has been a popular MPV over the years, but the Multivan is impressive.

It’s also available with a plug-in hybrid option and while the price tag may deter some drivers, you will get a lot of car for the money. It seats seven in comfort and the cabin is a premium, upmarket experience.

The seats are easy to move, they are on rails and there’s a useful fold-out table that can move between the seats. Along with the spacious interior, there’s a 469-litre boot - which most SUV rivals cannot match. In the long-wheelbase models, the Multivan lease offers just over 4,000 litres of space, with the rear seats removed.

Everything about the VW Multivan impresses; the dashboard looks bright and fresh with a contemporary look and the infotainment display offers sharp graphics and quick response times. The vehicle is available in two trims, and both come with lots of equipment including electric sliding doors, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist and satnav.

Opt for the range-topper, and drivers get to enjoy a panoramic sunroof and a premium stereo system, a powered tailgate and a parking assistance system. The rear seats in this model are also heated. It should come as no surprise that the Multivan is packed with safety kit including automatic emergency braking to keep the vehicle and occupants safe, blind spot monitoring, roadside recognition, and rear cross traffic alert.

Since this is a vehicle designed for adventures and family use, out on the road the steering is light and there’s little leaning experienced when driving through corners at speed. The tyres grip well and it’s a much better and more rewarding MPV to drive than the Caravelle was. Around town, the engines and the plug-in hybrid perform well, there’s a tight turning circle which is useful and there’s good visibility from the high position of the driver’s seat.

There’s also a very good 10.25-inch digital cockpit and a head-up display so drivers can see the car’s important data easily. VW is also offering an integrated eSIM so the vehicle is connected online, and drivers can access various functions using a smartphone app.

Essentially, the Volkswagen Multivan car lease range is an impressive offering that will suit families and anyone wanting a versatile vehicle as a base camp for adventures. It’s an excellent and spacious lease option MPV with a lot to recommend it.
