ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE VAUXHALL INSIGNIA

The engines for the Vauxhall Insignia car lease make this a well-rounded car to enjoy with petrol and diesel choices available.

There's a sprightly 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 197 bhp to offer a 0 to 62 mph sprint time of seven seconds. It's a new engine that comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Insignia GSi trim gets the same 2.0-litre engine producing 227 bhp and has all-wheel drive as standard and the same automatic gearbox. The entry level petrol engine is a 1.4-litre offering producing 143 bhp and is a sound choice for those who drive around town mainly.

Diesel engines for the Vauxhall Insignia include a 1.5-litre diesel unit in the entry-level models. It produces 120 bhp and it's available with either a manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The better performing engines are the 2.0-litre diesel units producing 172 bhp and it is mated to either a manual or automatic gearbox. The Insignia was revamped in early 2021 with a promise of a plug-in hybrid powertrain being added to the line-up at some point in the future.

Fuel economy for the petrol engines range from 37 mpg, and for the diesels, their fuel consumption is up to 61 mpg. This brings a benefit in kind rate of 28% for the manual diesel versions, and slightly more for the automatic transmission models.

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING FOR THE VAUXHALL INSIGNIA

The Vauxhall Insignia is a well-equipped and practical contract hire car with plenty of space and nice handling abilities.

While on the move, the cabin is quiet, and the Insignia stance is composed and there's good feedback from the tyres.

The model is up against tougher competition from premium marques and SUVs but there's still a lot to like about the Insignia. Its practicality and interior quality help it to stand out, and it's still a well-priced lease offering.

As usual, the Insignia is packed with standard equipment including rear and front parking sensors, LED headlights and a touchscreen infotainment system that comes with satnav and traffic sign recognition.

There's also cruise control, dual zone climate control and the infotainment system is smartphone compatible. Other models feature leather upholstery, a wireless smartphone charger, a heated steering wheel and a massaging function for the driver's seat.

The new model has a smoother ride than the previous version, particularly at low speeds, and it's a comfortable car to drive around town and on long motorway journeys. FlexRide models feature adaptive dampers to deliver supple changes to the suspension setup. This is felt particularly on winding country roads where there is good grip and little body roll.

The interior has been well-designed with quality materials, and this is also a very safe car with five stars from Euro NCAP for crash safety - the Insignia did well in every category. Standard safety features include forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, departure warning and traffic sign recognition.

As a practical choice, the boot is 490 litres in size, though this expands to 1,450 litres with the rear seats folded flat.

Essentially, the Vauxhall Insignia car lease is still a cracking family offering with a lot to offer for those who want to lease an impressive, comfortable and yet practical vehicle.
